fork cap / damper reassembly
fork cap / damper reassembly
This is probably an easy question for someone out there. I installed Racetech springs last night and when I finished, the damper adjuster that extends up through the fork cap now is about 1/2 to 3/4" higher than it was before I messed with it. Did I do something stupid? When removing the fork cap, I lifted the damper rod enough to get the 14mm wrench on the nut below the cap and held it in place while twisting the cap off with my hand. When installing, I held the nut again and screwed the cap onto the damper rod until it seated. Does this cause a problem with the damper rod extending higher? How does it change the suspension? I am going to the MidOhio intermediate trackday on this Sat and would appreciate any comments to get this resolved before I risk life and limb on my DIY modification.
My first post, but I have been reading and getting some good thoughts from all the postings since last winter. I have been riding since I was 13 (now 47), various dirt and street bikes and have been to 7 track days and love it. This past March, I went to Barber and also have been to Beaverun. Thanks for the help. DDohio
