Fairing question...

So I am about to embark on some fairing repairs. I am going to do all the prep work and have my local Maaco paint them. I was doing some research on repairs and discovered that some older fairings aren't made of str8 fiberglass, but a fiberglass injected plastic. From which I gathered you can not use a simple fiberglass repair kit. You would need a 2 part epoxy with "bubbles". Can you guys shed light on what material is used for the fairings? And is the about accurate? its a 98. Thanks

Use fiberglass to fix fiberglass- like a stingray corvette or aftermarket race fairings like sharkskinz. Use a plastic welder or a plastic epoxy to fix your plastic stock fairings. There are lots of options out there but I've had fantastic results from this stuff. It's cheap, extremely strong & when used and prepped properly makes the repair stronger than the surrounding area. Buy this stuff from permatex because it's nice and thick and easy to work with. If you get a similar brand from home depot, etc it's too runny and impossible to work with.

Stock fairings are ABS, not fiberglass.
