After researching the matter quite extensively, I have decided to proceed with a dyno break-in for my soon to be rebuilt engine. I have printed the following article for the tech doing the rebuild (http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm).

I have essentially instructed the tech to use the mototune method with the oil changes as mentioned in the 954 write-up. I picked up lots of cheap mineral oil (cheapest Castrol 10W40 bike stuff I could find) to help ensure the rings break-in properly. Here's to hoping it all works out

 

+1 on that- If I ever get the chance to break in an engine this method (purely from secondary research) has the best arguments in my mind! Let us know how it goes...
