Question Cracked cylinder

Have anybody ever worked on a block for a VTR 1000 Super Hawk '98. I got a crack in the cylinder mid section from side to side o that goes all the
way to the water jacket. Any suggestions? I'm really interested in fixing it instead of replacing the whole block which is kind of expensive. Any help in FL ?

AZZKIKER is an unknown quantity at this point
fixing it would probably be more expensive than a used motor on ebay.

Know any machine shop or else that has actually worked on it?

I have an old dusty engine in my garage you can buy off me. It's been sitting too long to be a viable complete motor, but the case is solid.

Thanks for the offer. So for how much? Where are you located at?

Man, that's really weird. Have you tried calling LA Sleeve? Most machine shops that do automotive engine work can machine out the old sleeve and install a new one. Hopefully LA Sleeve has one for the VTR.

Why in the world is yours cracked anyway?

if the cylinder and water jacket are cracked, the engine is junk, dont bother getting just an upper case, the crank main bearing journals will NOT match.. sleeving is not an option with a cracked water jacket, you'll leak coolant into the oil..

get an ebay engine or part the bike out... IMO
