If you do a search I think you'll find it's been discussed, but not sure anybody did it or what their results were if they did...RC

its been discussed. You could also slot the cam sprockets and degree your cams to modify the timing as well which is cheap and if you are going to the trouble you can set the timing perfectly.

my engine is down with a horrible rattle and running rough. so i cant get much before info. i will go ahead and try the swap but im doing the je pistons and valve job and porting while im in there so i wont be able to say exactly how big of a change swapping them alone made.

(hopefully i dont need new valves)

That rattle sound like a slapping sound?

it sounds like when the CCT's went out on all the other hondas ive ever owned. only a bit different since its a V-twin and not an I-4.

the bad thing is that when i scoped it i could hear a distinct metallic sound coming from high up in the combustion area. im really hoping it wasnt valves slapping a piston.

yep, sounds like what you're hearing is the cam chain slapping the wall of the head due to failed/failing CCT. That would also explain why it's running rough especially if the chain has jumper a tooth either on the cam sprocket or at the crank...

Is it the front jug?

could be either one, but I asked cuz most times seems the front one is usually the culprit...RC
