Any high altitude Supehawks?
Any high altitude Supehawks?
I live around 6000 feet and wonding how this might effect my jetting. I have 2 brother pipes and was thinking of just doing the traditional -10% rule with the jets and using the setting for the post below this one. Any advise would be great.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Any high altitude Supehawks?
I'm here in Denver at 5280 feet and switched to the Superhawk Honda Service Manual's recommendation of 172/175 jets instead of 175/178 jets. I noticed a more snappy throttle response and 2 mpg gain. I have stock cans.
With slip-ons, you might be fine with your stock jetting. No one on this forum seems to know. I might email Cycle World for their recommendation, though I'd probably go down to the 172/175s anyway to lean-out the mixture. What's your gas milage now? It should be around 46mpg for a 2005 bike.

[quote="miken996";p="18852"]Littleton here uncorked airbox with so called heat shield removed with stock filter modified micron carbon fiber ovals dyno jet stage1 180 front 185 rear pilots 48 air screws 1/2 turn out and needles a number one from bottom tps at 488 no flat spots running richer for winter may drop to 178 180 mains in the summer. gas milage 32.5 the setting above will be to rich for your application do what was said above go and get a 178 main and move the 175 to the front and install the 178 in the rear dump the 172 stick the needles 1 clip from the bottom set air screws to 1/2 out check all your settings before changing and see what that does.
Re: Any high altitude Supehawks?
32.5 mpg? That sucks. You should re-evaluate your 1/2-turn-out there. A lot of people "eyeball" their mixture screws like that but without a pressure gauge you'll be off every time. If you're in Littleton, you should try taking a trip to Sun Honda and having them sync your carbs. You'll probably get a TON more power and gas milage.
