929/954 Master Cylinder Swap
Did it, and wasn't sure at first. At the same time I also installed SS Lines and HH Pads.
The larger-piston Master Cylinder doesn't give any more braking power it just allows you to provide less force to the lever to engage the brakes. After I got used to the quick brake response, I really like it. Regularly use just 1 or 2 fingers to apply brakes.
I think the best thing to do if you have not done it is the SS lines and HH Pads. The M/C can come later.
If you get one used, remember to get the lever too as it is different than the stocker. They are visually the same so it does not look out of place, but the adjuster is totally different. Other than that, it bolts right on.

Re: 929/954 Master Cylinder Swap
I would encourage people to do the SS line thing (fronts are really the most important), and a brake pad swap. This makes a world of difference. What also helps is putting stiffer springs in the front to help control (what I feel is) the excessive brake dive these bikes suffer from the factory. The spring rates are way too soft for anyone over 120#.
I have not felt the need to do a MC swap since doing the aforementioned mods to my bike. Just my $.02.

Re: 929/954 Master Cylinder Swap
I had done the pad swap, and SS brake lines, and a Race Tech fork rebuild, but still thought the front brakes were just too soft.
The 954 MC swap made a HUGE difference in initial brake "bite" and gave a much more progressive front brake performance.
I wouldn't pay "new" prices, but if you can get the MC off ebay or a local junkyard for $50, it's WELL worth it.

Re: 929/954 Master Cylinder Swap
Can someone post the mastercylinder piston OD's for the SuperHawk vs 954 ?
I was doing some shopping but needed some baseline info for comparing .
Got the urge to lock the front at 100 or so if I want
