50mm Clip-On's For RC51/954/929/1000RR Fork Swap - What Did You Use?

Trying to figure out which route to take as far as clip-on's for my RC51 fork conversion. I'm somewhat interested in the Swatt bars but am concerned that I won't be able to get/make my Throttlemeisters to work with them. I'm not really too interested in super bike bars at the moment. I've searched quite a bit but have only found old threads with limited information. What have you guys used? Photo's would be a plus.

I ended up using ConvertiBars as I was cramming my CBR 1000RR radial M/C in there and with every fixed solution something hit somewhere...

Other solutions that should work fine is Helibars, the CBR 1000RR heli's are 50mm...

Tomaselli's also have a 50mm option... You already mentioned Swatt...

Swatts are standard hollow 7/8 in (I think that is what it is) bars.

They come with no holes in them etc, I drilled them as needed to make all my switch gear fit where I wanted them. I can't think of any reason your throttlemeister wouldn't work on them.

You are welcome to swing by and take a peek at them to see if they'd work for you. I would offer to ride up and meet somewhere but... I won't be riding for a while. :P

True, but I didn't have to cut my fairing. No more achy hands too.

I tried about everyting available at the time, now using superbike bars which I like. Convertibars allowed the most fine tuning, but I always felt they were relatively complicated and clunky appearance (and $$). If I were going now with clip on style I would definitely look at either the Tarozzi's options or SWAT bars. Even at the expense of a throttle meister, I'd just switch to the simple vistacruise style - having both the appearance is nite and day but I honestly thinkg the $25 vistacruise is better functionally.

good luck

I used Ducati 900 SS Helibars.... they have a lot of rise to them, so you could easily use a RC or 929/954 upper triple and still get these bars in a good spot.

It is 3½" from the top of the fork clamp to the middle of the bar inner end. Does that make sense?

That's the same rise as my Swatts, but with your design your bars are further back than mine, so you have a more upright seating position (not that mine is all that racy)

Hey Lazn, do you have any fairing interference with the Swatt's? Are they flush with the underside of the triple clamp?

No, and yes. I have them fully flush with the bottom of the upper triple, and to prevent any fairing interference I have them rotated slightly backwards. (about 1/4 inch from as far forward as they could go)

Setup like this there is no interference at all and the reach is quite comfortable.

I bought some 2.5" rise Swatts as a temporary solution, possibly permanent depending on how well they work. Does anybody else have some 50mm clip-on's they might consider selling? I'd like something where the bar exits on the side of the clamp rather than the front. If I remember right, the TL1000S Helibars exited on the side.

/\ That's my only issue with the Swatt's. I ended up drilling and tapping a bolt into the left steering stop on the lower triple to ensure that my brake lever wouldn't hit the fairing. I had to swap the riser bars side to side too in order to mount my F4i M/C.
