Erik, That site is Great! I cheat! I have a Coerce sprocket guard on the front so it eases counter shaft changes and the 2 extra rear sprocket carriers make it simple to swap rears. Sitting in the Mojave desert at El Mirage Dry Lake waiting for your turn to run through the traps gives one ample time to switch things out. I'm getting to old for track days but I can go really fast (for a stock motored 20 year old bike) in a straight line. It doesn't rely so much on reaction time or coordination. But, it's still thrilling and the comradery is great. I got inspired years ago when I watched "The Last Indian". I've learned things like; removing your mirrors is good for a little over 1mph, lighter viscosity oil is good for about 1/2 mph, a smaller non-O ring chain helps as well. My biggest non bike benefit was wearing really tight road race leathers, proper body position and holding my chin bar firm against the tank. I even gained a bit by running a more aerodynamic front fender. Next year...160?

Im not on a racetrack dude. Im just going for what feels nice riding around on the street. unless its a pig off the line im thinking i'll go as tall as possible. If i wanted to be the fastest kid on the street i'd get a four-banger.

I've experimented with multiple ratios for two reasons. One being the best compromise of acceleration vs economy, the other top speed runs at El Mirage Dry Lake (SCTA timed) My Hawk couldn't pull redline with 17/43 gearing. Stock gearing would just hit redline in 6th and ran 150.786mph My best run was with 16/43 gears. I clocked out at 158.231mph well into the red zone! Probably could have done better with some jet tweaking due to the altitude. Listed Highest to lowest; Sprocket sizes/gear ratio; 17/43=2.529:1, 16/41(Stk)=2.562:1, 16/43=2.6875:1, 15/41=2.733:1 I run 16/43 Calibrated and corrected rpm-speed 5000rpm=81mph
Thx
