What swingarms will work?
Okay, i've been searching for the answer to this, and am coming up pretty much dry...
I would like to do a VFR800 conversion, but has anyone attempted to use a 600RR, or one of the other Honda swingarms, in a somewhat direct swap? I find it hard to believe that the VTR swingarm was only used on the VTR...

It's the only bike (honda) that I can think of that bolts to the engine case and not the frame.

I have done VFR 800 swingarm conversion and it looks great..see my pix in thread about installing VFR swingarm.
I assume that all Honda swinarms would work as long as they are meant to be attached to engine, not frame?!
O.

I've got CBR929, CBR600RR and many other swingarms here and I can say none of them are very close. All would require machining, welding, fabrication, custom bearings, frame modifications or all of the above. Unless you have access to a TIG welder and a full machine shop you probably want to think about doing something else. If you do, then go for it!!!

of all the swingarms mentioned rc51 appears to be easiest. dont have to move shock like on the vfr800 swap. and you dont have to mod the exhaust either. you do have to make new linkage though. i just need to finish mine.

My understanding is you need to relocate the swingarm pivot location on the RC swingarm (move it backwards towarsd the tire).... are you saying that's not the case, and it's basically bolt on with a few spacers and the custom linkages?

I've not tried an RC51. I did measure my friend's bike and it didn't look very close. The key is not to just make it bolt up but rather to maintain the wheel centerline. Just fitting it on there is not the hard part, most of the time the mounting points need to be shifted side-to-side keep the wheel on center. This is the hard part. If I can find an RC51 swingarm on eBay within my budget (cheap!) then I might give that a shot.

Just a thought.... After adding the 900rr bracing to my swingarm, I have a slight clearance prob on left side with the exhaust..... I got the Two Bros full system w/ high mounted carbon fiber cans, and the front of the cans slightly touch the bracing.... a bit of adjusting and it isn't so bad... may not be any such prob with other cans and stock exhaust or another full exhaust system.

especially of your linkage . im mostly done with my linkage just curious how you did yours.
not to worried about length of arm, just yet.
finishing linkage and my exhaust design is 1st priority.
just need to find someone to weld this stainless tubing.
