so i want to remover these external reservoir plastic units for the front . I like the cleaner look of the square units attatched to the master's. such as the vfr 98's brake and clutch. will these work on my 98 superhawk? or any other bikes with similar built in reservoirs?

you can use any bike master cylider as soon as they are the same size
they have their size stamped in mm or inches
i think they they are both 14mm MCs, but have to check it

i made my own HRC style reserviors - may try it if you like the look

 

I made the swap to a F4i brake system, this included the M/C of course as well as the calipers and was a major upgrade over stock.

Then to even it out I got a ST1100 clutch master cyl. (see my sig) It seems a PC800 is a better match than the st1100 though.

There are several that will work for each side, but you do want to be aware of their piston size compared to stock.

 

I think there is a reason you will never find that setup for the front brakes on any superbike or motogp bike. That method is designed for the rear. I would think that there is no enough fluid to handle the extreme temperature changes, and the volume of fluid needed is much more than the rear. This is speculation on my part, but I do know how much of a PITA it is to bleed those.

 

So the pc800
St1100 and old cbr1000 will you you say? Any specific years? I do want to change both clutch and brake so before I contact the ebay sellers do you know if these bikes all have 14mm bores.

I think all years of PC800 and ST1100 for the clutch.

For the brake side, I do really recommend getting an entire F4i setup, from the calipers up. (you can keep the stock hoses, or upgrade to stainless) They give you far more options in pad materials and are MUCH better brakes. on the stock forks they do need a tiny bit of dremel work, but less than 5 min a side.

So I am about to bid on a f4i caliper to lever setup. It's from a 99-02 Cbr f4i. You probably won't respond by the time the auction is done. But I'll take ur word for it and place a bid. You say there is a bit of dremeling to be done. Are we talking like mounts or clearance on the fork.

Search F4i on the forum - everything you need to know...

 

Clearance on the fork, a bit off both the caliper and the fork side is easiest, but you can do exclusively either.
