Does anyone have experience with bar-end mirrors and block of plates on these? The stock ones are about as pretty as mirrors stuck on the fairing can be, but they aren't very functional and I'm thinking of turning the outer bit of my bar end weights down to 7/8" and putting those cool little round slightly convex one on. I could build some block-off plates from polished aluminum, but would rather find some black ones if such are available. Winter here, tired of not riddin'.

There's lots written in the archives about this subject - I know because I think I read of letter of it. In an effort to get some vision quick I went with the cheap knockoff R-6 mirrors available on Ebay - about $50 for the pair. I think the years were 2003-2005 - others please confirm.
They're okay - the view could be better but it's much improved without turning the frontal look of the bike into an insect. My biggest complaint is the way the boot of the mirror mates to the mounting surface on the fairings. It's not quite centered and the ovals are different (I can hear Hawkrider falling off his chair) but **** like this bothers me.
All the truly good looking stuff involves some welding, grinding, painting - just way over what I was trying to do with the bike at the time.
I'll have time to do this after the aftermarket wheels, a new paint job on the gas tank, new engine covers, all the high priority stuff.

I love the look of those CF mirrors, but they are too damn expensive!! Does anybody know another company that sells something similar? I don't need CF, just the same shape. I wonder if something like this would fit on the SH.

I've posted this before...if you have the OEM VTR mirrors, grind the rivets off the R1~6 stalks from their mounts & bolt them to the OEM mounts & boot. Now I have Don H's extenders in between but it works either way.

I do remember this Skokie, so thanks for putting it up again. I was not at the place for grinding. They had to bolt up and that was that. My stock mirrors were nothing to write home about anyway so no big.
