Seat welded up and now sitting on the frame,, starting to like it a little more. I think I will screw the tail light to it and see how it comes up..

Any criticism is welcome , I have only beer to give me inspiration, I am flying blind here boys!!

Not feeling it. The rear portion needs to be more rounded.

Unfortunately I need the use of a tool called a "english wheel" which I have not got to roll the tail on the other axis

can't wait to see this painted and with a seat pad. I kind of wanna say don't have the tail dip down at the rear (i know you have it somewhat mimicking a fender and following that line)

I love my hawk semi naked and fighterish but never would have though to legitimately cafe it (i've still gotta finish my cb550 restomod/cafe)

Took about 2" off the back of the seat to see how it looks.

Much better. Airtech makes some nice fiberglass ones if you're interested.

Good job mate
Pity you couldnt cut the btm rail on the rear subframe shorter
To me it would make the rear end neater

Actually not true, it can be done with a teardrop mallet and a beater bag, then once its roughed out to the desired shape you can hammer and dolly it pretty smooth with a lot of patience. Its not easy but neither is the english wheel. I usually beat the shape I want then english wheel it smooth.

In doing this bike in "Cafe Racer" style I want to put Ye Ol 7" chrome headlight on the front.. Now the problem being that they dont make headlamp fork clamps to go around the 50mm 2" Hayabusa front end I am bolting up to it.
So I bought a set of cheap Chinese 50mm clip on bars and a gsx headlamp ears and milled them so they bolted together.
One side done!

I decided to keep the original gauges, as its a pain to fit a aftermarket gauge and have all the benifits of the orig.
So I made this bracket to hold the thing.

I really like where this is going. After I switched to my 929 front end, I had the same issue with mounting the 7" round headlight. The solution I came up with was using hydraulic hose clamps (already had the brackets for the headlight). $19 fix but doesn't look anywhere as nice as yours.

That front wheel is just the VTR one sitting in there it has a huge dent in the rim from impact damage. The interesting thing is the disc spacing is identical to the Busa, however a little snag is that the busa rotors are 320mm.

Here is a rough gauge/headlight assemble to give you an Idea of the look the front will be using the original gauges.

Well I have now cut out the seat pan, and mounted it ready for the upholster to put a nice bit of foam and covering to. I have to say, I am not a metal fabricator, and this is my first go at making a cafe seat,,, and let me tell you it will be my last, as I have had a gut full of cutting and shaping, and I still have to make an under carriage!!

So if you finish with a "English wheel" then in fact it would be TRUE...

Anyway, bottom line is I am not a very patient sorta guy!

Latest Update is my secondhand wheel arrived from ebay, now I can mount the alloy front guard and the radiator to make sure I get correct clearance with fork travel.

No Mate it was only the top bearings that was different. So I took the honda bearing and the top Busa bearing down to the bearing shop and asked for one with the inside to match the Busa stem and the outside to match the Honda frame............ Presto!

FYI: All ***** will do that for you over the phone and ship you the bearings you need if you don't have access to a local shop. But if you have a local shop that is usually quicker. (just say, I am putting X triples on Y frame, sell me the bearings I need)
