Painting my hawk

How much paint will I need to paint everything? I have Carbon Fiber wheels so I dont need to paint them, but I do have full fairings. I would also like to have a little extra to experiment with especially on my old helmet.

Thanks in advance guys.

And so far, I LOVE THIS FORUM!

I found a few color choices, I had no idea they came out with a blue in '03. I really like it, but would rather have a custom blue. Any suggestions?

Shayne has one of the best blues on the planet! Look up his posts in the last few months and look his bike over. Kinda sets the bar.

Typically one quart for an entire set of sport bike bodywork. Since the superhawk doesn't have a "full" set of fairings you should have enough left for a helmet.

I bought an ebay kit and tried it myself. It turned out OK for a first attempt but no show winner for sure.

Funny that you should mention him... I saw his bike earlier and PM'ed him about the color code and to let him know I was in LOVE with that bike and the color it was painted.

Thanks for the info guys. Now I got enough info to get the ball rolling.

I paint everyday

A pint of color, usually gets reduced to a quart or slightly less depending on the paint system,(standard color not a candy or pearl) for the base. A Quart of clearcoat plus hardner.

Unless you are doing some graphics work or want to wet sand and re-clear that will be enough for almost all sportbikes.

Good Luck,
