Mulling over a paint job... RCV scheme?

Black base coat is on, and the inside of all the parts are black as well. Bit of orange peel on that CBR fender, and some fish-eye too. That piece has been a PITA since I got it lol 
Tarp fluttered up and made light contact with the pillion cover. We'll see if that is a sand out or paint over. The black is really rude, it shows everything that is wrong. My fixed dents are smooth but apparently absorbant, a few coats should cover that. Slight ghostly outline where the honda tank wings were. I fear those weren't sanded as flat as they felt?
We'll see if the orange is more forgiving!

Thanks! I'm liking how it goes so far too. I'm just using one of the Lowes HVLP guns, and lacquer paint. The gun got great reviews online, and if you run the pressure a little higher then the recommended 40 (closer to 55 working for me in the cooler weather here) it goes on quiet smooth. Lacquer is a bit old tech, but it is really easy to work with, not super toxic like the modern paints, and I can keep extra around for touch up
Orange is done. Looked at Repsol, but it was a bit too flashy, so went a smidge lower key with "Hugger" orange, and its a good compromise for my eyes
I'll let that set up for a day or two so I'm positive its dry, then I'll get it all back together on the bike so I can mask out the wings / shoot the black / then hit it with the clear which should really shine it up.
So far so good!

I've got things on the bike now so I can mask out the 'wings'. Its very orange lol
Paint seems good, has dried well. Hoping the clear gives it a bit more shine!
Wish I could black out those radiators some how. I'll have to look into that. Rider pegs may need to go black too, at least the angle pieces...

Thanks! Good news is radiators can be painted (there's even special paints for them) so a liiiight coat of black will be on there soon.
Half masked out, that is quite a bit more time intensive then I was expecting. Best not to screw it up though Not a flat surface makes making a straight line look straight tricky!

Lol, I'm way too slow at this to make any money at it
Tinged only by the fact I forgot about the chin spoiler completely and will have to paint it this weekend, I proudly present me "RCV Hawk" as it were, ta daaaaaa!:
Turned out really well, with only a few small runs in the clear and some random crap that blew in from the outside. You have to look to find the problems, so I'm very happy with the result!
Black frame really works on this bike, and the dark radiators made a big difference too. Once its all cured solid and I've been able to polish it up a bit I'll give her a proper photo shoot!

Thanks! Had it out front in the sun, and the orange really comes alive then. Will have to get some better pics when its all wrapped up, I'm very happy with it!
Went to take it for a spin and it seems the rear cylinder conked out since it was down so long. Has spark, gotta be a fuel thing. First ride postponed for a bit!

Lol Bowl was dry in the carb, but fuel in the line so sent 5 psi into the carb with the drain plug out and the float freed up so she's running. Did a few laps around the block on account of all the changes I made and found the new right fork seal is leaking (wft?!) and the low end is a bit stuttery / popping (carb / or K&Ns fault) but all in all VERY happy she rolls again!

Thanks Yup, I sanded all the bodywork down with 400 grit after I'd fixed all the little problems (cracks, tabs, etc). Then primed, lightly sanded that to even things out, then black to show any problems, then the orange / black / clear. I used this auto store paint line from Duplicolor, which worked suprisingly well. If I'd had a proper booth to avoid airborne fluff and some better lighting, I'm confident it would be a flawless finish.
Finished the chin spoiler, so here's a proper set of pics all finished! Can't wait to get back to riding to work
Pillion cover wanders a little on the seat, so stripes may not always line up exactly

Nope, the front end swap with the CBR killed the turning radius at low speeds (can't turn the front nearly as tight) so I have to lean it waaaaaaay over to turn it around in the garage. That's a bunch of overspray it rolled through showing up on the tire
