fork coating is flaking off? PICS ARE UP!!

I need to take a pic of this to illustrate it better... but on the lower fork ends( above and below the fender mounting area), the 'paint' or coating ( silver) is flaking off!!! AT first I thought it was road debris that would be causing this as of how it looks.. but this would also be destroying my plastic, and its not at all.

It looks like a bad prep-job on the metal prior to coating them cuz it looks like oxidation is present where the coating is not present....

I will post a pic later tonight... any ideas on how to stop it... or do I need to remove everything and strip them down and recoat?

thanks

Sorry for not posting the pic... family emegency... my little guy ( 16 months) went to the ER after falling... they cannot tell whats wrong with his right leg after 20 X-rays, but he is in alot of pain and still cannot walk.... looks like the ankle is the painful joint... no tenderness at the knee or hip.. but DONT TOUCH THE ANKLE... no swelling or bruising is the odd part.... I will try to get the pic up soon

again.. sorry

Damn, there is nothing worse than not knowing what's going on with your kids! Get that figured out first that's what's important. Good luck, btw I hate DR.s.

Anyway... I took the pics.... let me know what you think? thanks

As you can see... no damage to the fender at all.. what little depbris you see is dirt that wipes off...

Yeah, both my superhawks have done that as well as one VFR but my Bandit was the worse. It had a clear coating that bubbled and peeled which looked worse than the honda forks.

OOOOOOOOOOH!!!! That would be SWEET!!!! but not now... $$$ is tight and I have a few things to wrap up... Im on 'restriction' from spending too much on the SH..

On another note.... my wife took our little guy back into the hospital... more varying angles X-rays revealed a fracture in his right tibia ( shin bone)... now at 16 months old... he has a cast.... poor guy... I feel so bad for him..... they do NOT want him walking on it at all, but he should heal very quickly.....
