So how are peoples led cyclops mod, or " Dehnings mod", holding up? It has been a few months since the original post. Any burned out, flickering or anything?

I haven't used mine as much as I'd like but it's still working great.

So far it's still brighter and whiter than my stock headlight...

Well bumpity bump. I did Dehnings mod tonite and it is impressive to say the least. It made my white headlight look yeller too. Turns out one of the adapters fits my mini turn sigs, and I bought four pieces. I'm looking at hooking one up on the front sig to see how it looks. then I may have to order some more. You know, because I would need one more to do all sigs too.

I'm really glad you guys shared this. I ordered one which came in today. Just installed it and there was a huge difference. This will give cagers even less of a reason to say they didn't see me. I drove over to my parents house and my Mom saw it and said that it looks like a beacon light when it was in the dark garage. My next step is to get the HID main head lamp. Then I can use less power there and have matching colors up front instead of white and yellow.

Talking

Its not directly related to Superhawks, but I am so impressed by those little grids that I have ordered 8 more to fit in the dome lights, footwell lights and reverse lights of my new project:

1 x White COB 18 LED Plate Car Interior Dome Light Bulb T10 Festoon 12V 2 4cm | eBay

I re-visited this again. I had replaced the third eye with the 8 light panel in the first post. The new COB is super bright.. 40mm by 20mm fits perfectly with just a bit of trimming. I think the 50mm by 20mm would fit as well.. Not bad for $1.11... Ahhhh, late night tinkering...

Another good use for cob lights is beefed up brake lighting. I used 2 extremely bright stick cobs to put strobing brake lights in my givi hard top case.

Givis have a wraparound red lens type thing. I removed that and mounted them behind it. (then replaced lens) You can bend the cob lights to the same curvature as the case.

I have the vid up on my FB but cant figure out how to post it here.

Nice. I'll guess that those bars get attention when illuminated.

Yeah, and with the strobe effect (starts rapid, then slows, then steady) I can see cars back off.

I purchased one of these lights (I checked and I paid $2.50 for only one light) and it came with four extras of everything! It was suprising, but so far I found a use for two of the extras as turnsignals. They might look decent behind the tinted windshield. Just have to use a piece of black plastic to hide the LED itself and the wiring. It might look good.

With this size, making the LED fit will just take a little trimming with a file or dremel. A small amount of hot glue to hold it in place and it will work great as another light.

Filed, fitted and glued in place. Man, for how small and thin it is, this thing is bright!

Hey Mat. Looks good. It looks pretty white in your pic. Is it a pure white or does it have a blue hue? Did the seller make any claim as to the color temperature? Do you know how many LEDs the panel has? Can you say who the eBay seller was? I've found some listings that appear to have the same panel, but was looking for some confirmation. I'd like to find a panel without the blue cast, say in the 4500k-5000k range. Thanks.

Actually, I'm beginning to think there's one or, at most, two guys in China selling all this LED stuff on eBay and Amazon.

Hey Steve, no problem answering those questions. The light is a nice bright white. Not yellow and not blue. I would say that it is in that color range you want. It has 18 LED's. The seller is asunriseast.

Here is the ad:
1 x White COB 18 LED Plate Car Interior Dome Light Bulb T10 Festoon 12V 2 4cm | eBay

I didn't want a LED with the blue tint or hue either and this LED light fits the bill. Maybe you will get lucky like I did and this seller will send you five of everything instead of just the one.

I think you are right about there being just a few actuall sellers. Why do I think this? Because, last year I had to return three items that all came from China. Three different sellers and three different products, mind you they were all automotive in nature, but I ended up writing the same exact return address on each package. What's wierd, is the fact that the return address was here in the states.

Thanks Mat.

That panel listed in the auction is different than the one you have. What a surprise. That's based on the lead placement and the position of the resistor. That seller has 2 or 3 different panels of varying size listed.

Oh yeah, I never noticed that. The only reason I could see for that, is that the picture shown is of a larger panel. As the panel gets smaller, there is less room for stuff and things might need to move around a little. Besides the placement of the resistor and the leads, it looks identical.
