Another RC51 fairing on superhawk

Just got some more info. My fairing is on its way and will be here Wednesday. This is what I ordered.

I already decided on the paint theme this picture is very close of what I want to do but my rear will be half black and the air ram will be black outline. Yup doing a whole swap rear too. Change some stuff but basically going to look like this. I did my pair removal already since i have the bike apart already and move some brackets. Also I drilled out the right exhaust restriction with the 38mm hole saw. Ride like a different bike which is nice.Thinking about tackling the TPS next but unsure right now. Will update when the project start.

White & black should look good.

This blue superhawk is the only one that i have seen with RC51 fairings that looked right, all the other RC51 fairing swaps that i have seen just didn't look like they should be there. I think you need to get the positioning of the fairings just right or it looks all wrong.

Just my 2 cents.

Hey swap what kind of paint did you use to paint your frame? Can you give me some tips? Sanding and paint type?

Ya I just used engine enamel (flat black) with the same brand of engine primer. It really wasn't too difficult, just take your time taping everything off (if your going that route) and sand with something pretty abrasive. I started w/ 60 grit and worked my way to 300 or so. It stuck well, but I let it cure for about a week before I even handled it.

Yea i been waiting for the faring for a week. When the UPS truck pulled up I acted like a kid on christmas morning and i want it on. My friend walk out and told me to take it easy other wise i owuld **** **** up. I didn't listen!! I fit it in notice that the PO dropped the bike on the right side and bend the mirror support so I have to bend it out to have perfect fit, painted and was done in a day.. hahhaa. Oh and the frame it was not too bad just take alot of time covering everything up and all. I have to cut the whole bottom section of the fairing. The fairing arrive but was not good quality they did not cut it right so you have to come in and cut it down a little here and there. The only thing left is mesh the hole and it will look nicer.

For some one that works as fast as you, a 10 day wait must be hell .

As for mesh, i saw some one go to a local office supply store & by a cheap mesh waste paper basket, then cut & roll out flat, then you have some mesh . Some times you need to think outside the box .

They are cheap & come in different colors, black, silver, white.

I think the black mesh would look better. Kinda hate when people put mesh on their bike with a color that sticks out..
