VTROTM January

Hope this one wins. I recently finished the undertail exhaust, using mostly CBR1000RR components. I elected to do this due to the paint codes matching, along with Honda's foresight in using many ideas that would transfer from one machine to the other.

In a nutshell, this is a low mileage (2,500) 2004 model that I purchased as a wreck, although it did not have a salvage title. The bike had been wheelied over backwards, bending the subframe and left pipe mount. The left pipe and fuel tank were also damaged. After close measurements and comparing undertail exhausts on the CBR, I decided to make the conversion. Several Ebay purchases later, I had the new tail section, muffler, and subframe in place.

The whole transformation took over a year, but I am pleased with the results. I do also like the Yamaha R1 tail, but at the time I wasn't excited about a color change.

I really love squids bike. Those black Hawks with the gold rims have always been my favorite... But 8451's looks soo nice in it's refined state of black and white like a tuxedo. I don't envy your wheel cleaning regiment though, sir.

I can tell already I'll be conflicted about which one to vote for. It's a bumper crop of nice VTRs already.
