I figured it was time to upgrade my old radar detector that was going on ten years. Needed to stay with either Escort or Valentine as my helmet mounted wireless warning light only works with those brands. Chose the V1G2. Wanted arrows, compact size, excellent build quality and great customer service. Also installed an app called JBV1. It allows very extensive control of how the detector is configured. It also gives full phone screen display of alerts (if you want it). Which turns out to be a valuable feature as the V1 display is nearly unreadable in bright sunlight. So far the V1 display issue is the only negative. I have a month of testing and tweaking and getting more confident with the settings through the app.

Is that high enough to clear the gauges for unobstructed reception or does it have a remote receiver?

 

I don't need no stinking gauges!
