New Guy w/pics
Hello, I've read this forum for a little while now but decided to join up and see what's the party like. Love all the information here and ideas everyone has done.
I'll give you an idea of what my bike looks like.
Story with the bike is this, my father and I took on a winter project together and we wanted to do a streetfighter. The 2000 VTR was at a local dealership showroom floor for a couple of years so at a good deal we breathed life into it.
Nothing over the top, engine wise it's stock. K&N drop-in and changed up the stock needle settings. You can see what exhaust we went with, um the handle bars are TAG dirt bike. Harley sporter headlamps and EMGO turn signal mirrors. One off modified windscreen off a 929. Custom painted rims and bottom chin. Clear alternatives rear LED brake/turn light and a glossy black undertail kit. Full stainless steel lines all around. That's it...for now
The bike has been a dream for me to ride, dad gave me an option to buy the bike so I did at the drop of a hat (had a ZX-7). The grunt of the v-twin is so much fun around town let alone the sound coming out the pipes. Every time I start the bike I remember why I love it so much.
As a request on the first post, I've read about this chain tensioner problem. Would my 2000 have the older version of the tensioner? The bike has low mileage for its age but I'd definitely buy a new one if I have to.
And secondly, there is conflicting thoughts about converting the stock gauges to digital. The 01+ cluster require alot of work to make it work? I searched a bit, someone posted saying the CBR1000R's cluster is an easy match? I'll continue to research a bit more. I understand I'd have to pick up a few sensors thou.
Great community here guy's and gal's. Keep up the good work and keep it wheel side down.

You have stock automatic CCTs, I can see it in the top right picture. There are different opinions on replacing them or not. I replaced mine because I was going in to check the valves anyway, not because they were bad at all.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I get 2x the stares with this bike then any others I've had. Few more things to modify on the bike planned once finances come back around in a months time.
