Welcome! That bike is not bone stock. It has aftermarket turn signals, front and rear, aftermarket tail light, mirrors, paint, and painted wheels! Myself and a lot of the guys here like Michelin power pilots. Look around here, there is a link to an extremely good buy on them. $208 shipped for both is what I paid. Excellent tires. I got ahold of a set of Erion cans and midpipes here on the forum as well and I LOVE them. You're gonna have to do some carb work if you play with the cans. Check the classifieds here and before you hear it elsewhere, do some searching all over this forum. Most questions can be answered that way. I suck at searching for specifics here but give it a whirl! Good luck with the bike. Oh yeah, you may wanna look into replacing your cam chain tensioners, stock or manual, both are good, but new ones are a good idea if you don't know the bike well.

Welcome Victoria...... Another Texan SH,, outstanding.

As others have noted, your bike has a few more MOD's then you may have at first noticed.... Sounds like it's time to look deeper and see what else you can find.... Maybe there is a set of High CR pistons and Morwaki cams..

Tires, are like shoes very much a personal fit.
Tell us what kind of riding your looking to do and we can give some suggestions. If it's a High performance tire your looking for... Forget the suggestions, they do not last very long, and give you a lot of opportunity to try different tires.. Pick up a set, ride um for a few months, try a new different set.

Exhausts.... again, some personal preference for sure going on there for sure.. Best bet would be to find other SH with aftermarket pipes you can look at / listen to.. Other then that it a crap shoot based on how you like the "look" of which you can get form a simple search here and on google.

Hey newb, cool yellow wheels. The first thing you have already learned about this forum is that everytime you are trying to ask a question, there is someone who cant wait to say "DO A SEARCH". Every time sadly. Just a heads up. You gotta plod on to get your answer.
Anyway. RUN (dont walk) to start the regulator/rectifier swap. I just got my 2nd 98 & BOTH have stranded me (slow learner). I had to push one for 2 milles on the highway intermittantly push starting it. The R/R on these bikes is a tiny little matchbook sized thing. Replace it as your FIRST mod to the bike.

Welcome and nice looking black paint job! As you can see already, these guys know their 'Hawk in and out so more pics may reveal other aftermarket goodies you already have.

You could look up bafflectomy as some members have done that to their exhaust- basically drilling holes in them to louden them up a bit and possibly gain one or two horsepower.

I also have a set of 2 bros slip ons that you can have for cheap. They're in pretty crummy condition, but resurrectable if you're into that kind of thing. You'll definitely find better looking ones if you wait though. https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...ad.php?t=23875

welcome aboard Mudslut. congrats on your new baby. what you do with exhausts depends on how much moola you can part with. If you're poor like me, you'll need to do a bafflectomy, richen the air mixture, and shim the needles. Cost nothing. OR you can purchase exhausts and a jet kit for somewhere between $500 and a $1000.

Tires:depends on the type of riding your doing. If you're ride mostly on straight roads and want the your tires to last, you can but michelin pilot road2s.

whatever your particular preferences or financial constraints, you'll be able to find lots of info and nice people like me.. lol .. on the forum to guide you.

Welcome!
I love my Yoshimura slip-ons. I'd already done a needle shim with the stock exhaust, then I got rear ended. So insurance bought my Yosh cans. I went to 48 pilot (slow) jets for $6 and change each, and it runs great. No need to buy a $200 jet kit, as long as you run the stock air filter. Plus with Yoshimura's you can remove or install the street baffles in about 1 minute, depending on how loud you want it.

Have fun, and enjoy the torque.

Well i don't know. Those yellow wheels might trump your black wheels. In either case you'll still be in the mirrors of the ultimate fastest Super dooper red hawks.

Thanks for all the welcomes. I'll keep that search button in mind. Sure is slot quicker and easier to use that lol! But I had a older cummins truck that needed transmission work and I told the previous owner I would trade him straight up for his bike. So we swapped title and since then the bike is my dd! I ordered a smoke tail light + turn signals for the rear and I'll look at those tires and check on that inexpensive exhaust! Thanks for all yalls help so far! Not sure on the color yet I'm not sure if I want to completely black it out or go with a crazy bright color cause I ride the highway at night.
