Today has been about success and failure....

I made silencing tips for the exhaust and now it runs better and sounds perfect.

I will get pics up soon. Anyone have any advice about brake bleeding this thing won't prime the master. Air bubble come back to the reservoir every squeeze like the system is backwards or something. Arg I had this master working once before. I am about to light it on fire

Start bleeding at the master cylinder banjo. Wrap a rag around the brake line to soak up the brake fluid. Squeeze the brake lever and break the banjo bolt loose, you'll hear/see bubbles galore. Once the bubbles stop, finish at the caliper bleed nipple.

This is also the best/only way to bleed a clutch master cylinder.

Well I got it bled finally. I had to use the nipple at the mc to prime the pump and since I reverse bled it once the pump was primed it worked. Kia your method is good advice but this mc didn't have a banjo at the top instead it is 1/8 npt that points straight down. There is a bleeder valve were you would normally have a banjo bolt. It is a brembo or a brembo knock off I can't tell for sure.

Drove the bike home from the shop and man she works great! It feels good to be done with everything but a little carb jetting change. Delivery on Monday night hopefully. I still need to do an official shakedown ride looks like Sunday night since the weekend is already booked solid. Although judging by how well it feels like it is working I am not expecting any kind of major failure or breakdowns, but you never know that is why it needs to be done before I drop the thing off.

Anyone want to celebrate with me Sunday night?

Well I broke a couple things while riding that are now fixed "right" this time. Actually they were things I should have checked but didn't actually mod. Anyways the bike is ready to head up tomorrow night. I would take it tonight but the schedule was too cramped. Everything is bang-in! Woot!

I will get my sister to take a picture of her and the bike so I can post the new proud owner on here.

Today my sister's bike was totaled ...

Luckily she was not on it and it was parked, but from the sounds of it a total loss. Clip on's destroyed tank destroyed front end obliterated... finished...

I don't know what to think.

Oh man what a bummer! I'm glad your sister wasn't hurt though. That's the only thing you have to think about.

I have that sick lump in my stomach when you know something has gone very wrong. Now I need to figure out how much to ask the guy for. He has insurance but wanted to pay out of pocket instead. The cx stock is $1500 but I would have tried to sell the bike if I was going to do that a lot higher. Oh the joys. I will know tomorrow if it needs forks and a front wheel which obviously can cost a fair amount of money to replace, do you guys think $3k is too high? Maybe $2500?

First...Glad your sister wasn't on it at the time.

Is 3 grand too much? Hell no! That's a custom modified bike, with lots of your highly skilled man hours put into it. I would have cried if I had put all the labor and love that you did into that CX.

How did it happen? Knowing may help others when they park their bikes.

Alright, so a big lifted truck high enough that my sister said had she been standing there he would not have seen her either. He is parked in the spot to the left of my sisters bike. The parking spots are diagonal. I guess he thought he could turn his wheels to the right and just go straight out since my sister was in the last spot to the right and he was in the second to last. Thinking no one was there he turned his wheels and gunned it running over the bike and the he continued to drag the bike 20 feet or so before a employee was able to stop him, since apparently he hadn't noticed he was dragging something.

Well... That brilliant display of intelligent driving should cost him extra if you ask me... If you choose to drive a big lifted truck you really need to look before you go, missing something like that could very easily hurt somebody badly...

No, 3k isn't too much, that's probably where you end up with the parts... The way I look at things, if everything is solved on insurance I take a small loss, I get the insured value... If the other guy want's to do it cash and not involve the insurance, he pays me what I say it's worth... And I'm not taking a loss... loss in spent time, sure... But not loss in terms of bought parts...

I saw a cartoon once, referring to lifted trucks, that stated "The height of the truck is inversely proportional to the size of the driver's brain".

You'll be loads ahead if you get him to pay out of pocket, plus it won't be a salvage title. As it is (and no offense here) no insurance is going to pay squat for a bike that has bottomed out on value, and is only really appreciated by a select few. You have a ton of time into it, transforming what is otherwise a ho-hum cx500 into something really cool. Insurance companies in general don't see it that way, and you'll get robbed if it goes through insurance. Get cash, and yeah, 3K seems reasonable to me, given your time and effort. Makes me sick to read it all...sorry man.

I looked it over today and the worst part is that it may have bent forks. The wheel is damaged both clip ons where destroyed her drivers peg was bent beyond repair, shift lever was broken her master cylinder was destroyed her clutch cable was torn up. The tank has a really large dent. The headlight brackets are both bent, the seat pan was bent, the valve cover on the passenger side has a large gash and tear. The front fender is folded in half and the blinkers destroyed.

The good news is the bike started right up today. I am hoping the frame isn't bent and I am pretty sure it didn't. I got a chance to watch the video of it happen on the surveillance he actually ran over the bike then dragged it for 20 feet.

I never got to page 8 on this thread. What a bummer. The good thing is knowing that you have the skill to put another bike like this together. I'm so glad your sis wasn't ON the bike when this bonehead crushed the bike.
