Bought a 2000-mod VTR today! :D
I live on the west coast of Norway, yesterday I took my SV650S for it's last ride, over to the east side of Norway.
There a 2000-mod. VTR was standing, waiting for me. I tested it, and did the switch!
I rode it home today (about 310 miles), I think I have to buy a better seat, noticed that quite well in that distance!
In addition, the sound from the MIG's is good, but it is a bit too much! Is it possible to insert dB-killers or something like that in them?
The gearing right now is also too high for me to be able to keep legal speeds! I should maybe change a sprocket or something...
Other than this, I am extremly happy with my switch, the bike is really good! V-twin forever!
Mods:
-Showa variable front shock
-Öhlins Steering damper
-Öhlins variable rear shock
-MIG exhaust
-DB windscreen
-Carbon hugger and chainguard

Saweeet shock!! Nice bike, congrats. My wife has an SV650, so I know the difference your feelin'. Huge isn't it? When I ride the two back to back, the 'lil SV feels like a boy toy. After winding out all the gears you look down and see 110-120mph. I just put a Corbin seat on and my last 3 hour trip I had no azz fatigue. Being leather, it lets me move around more. I discovered I was a little too stiff in the seat before the switch. And about the dB's, sometimes I wish my Jardines were LOUDER!!
Oh yeah, welcome to the forum. It's a great place for info and to just shoot the breeze.

Thank you everybody for the kind words! You are all very helpfull, and that's nice to know, considering I bought an older bike! I am glad both you, and jaypo's wife likes the bike!
Thanks! I have thought a bit about it, and the noise of the bike seems too bother everybody! So I want to keep the cans, but maybe silence them up a bit with a dB-killer that will fit in the cans.
Yeah, the shock works really good! But I can only compare it to the original that was sitting on my SV650, and the overall difference is HUGE, both enginewise and handling / stiffness!
I thought my SV650 was loud with it's aftermarket exhaust, I even had plans about silencing it! But this is loud in a whole new meaning. When you rev it, the soung knocks your chest!
I have to think a bit about going for the Sargent or the Corbin seat, I see different things are recommended.

You make a valid point Greg However, as we all know, is there really such a thing as fast or quick enough? That bing said, I may just have to look into another coat of paint, lol

As for the noise... The MIG's are among the most loud and definitely among those with the hardest and most annoying sound... I'd suggest trying to trade them for another set of good aftermarket pipes with a bit more bassy and less hard sound... Will still be plenty loud but won't scare small kids...
My Jardine's are to me a decent mix... Low bassy rumble around town, and screams like a banshe once you open up the throttle...
And if you decide to take a trip to the other side of the border, pop in here and see what the Swedish contingent of nutcases are up too... We have a few exile Norwegians already...

Sweet bike!
I have a Corbin and like it a lot! Stock gearing is 16/41 I think and it's a little tall for me, so I'm running 15/43 which brings the RPMs to 5K at 80 MPH, which is perfect for me...I'd suggest trying to get used to the exhaust before doing anything drastic cuz it would be a shame to loose that sweet rumble sound
The easiest way to figure out what gearing you have is to count the teeth and change sprockets according to your own tastes...
Happy riding!

Thank you for the tip about the vtr.nu forum, I will surely take a look!

I will check the gearing, and almost certanly change it

RPM to 5k in 80mph, whitch gear is this in? Now, when my bike is in second, and I'm going 50mph, I'm about 4500-5000 rpm. And that is way to low gearing for my taste, and the bike doesn't seem to be quite happy here, pulling a bit, it wants a bit more RPM When I'm doing the speedlimits (always) I have to gear back and forth between 1. and 2. gear, it seems like the bike is geared for the autobahn :P

Cursio, 80mph in 6th gear is 5K RPM with 16 tooth (stock) sprocket up front and 43 tooth (2 more than stock) out back. I did the 520 conversion, but you don't have too...if you want just buy a 43 tooth rear sprocket and use your current chain

I got a spare 15 tooth sprocket here, I will take a trip to a workshop, get a 43 rear, and 15 front
Thank you for the help!
