Dunno if you ever got that dent out of the pipe or not. You just need to fill the pipe with enough water to fully cover the area that is dented, plus maybe a couple inches more on either side. As the water freezes, it expands by up to 10%. We use freeze seals in nuclear piping systems when work is needed on a portion of the system but depressurization of the whole system is not feasible. It'll hold up to about 1500 psi depending on the length of the freeze seal and diameter of the pipe. Pretty cool stuff. But back to dent removal...if the dent is deep it may take two or more attempts at this. No need to cap ends if you have a freezer deep enough where you can situate the pipe where gravity will do its job.

I ended up filling the pipe with water, taping each end shut, and freezing it. It seemed to help, but the dent didn't come out fully. Its good enough for me.

Having the parts bike has saved me alot of cash for this rebuild. I'm planning on keeping it intact for the forseeable future, just in-case I have another mishap.
