Front end 1999 GSXR 750 swap

I have a buddy that has a complete front end tree and all....he thinks it is from a 1998 or 1999 GSXR 750. I was wondering if I was able to get it all if I am able to mount it complete onto the neck...Does the bearings match? or the length of fork? does anybody know for sure. I have looked into some of the swaps and they are using some cbr parts...is that necessary to do. Any info would be great...Thanks

The info is available on the forum, use the search for the details, but the short is, it can fit with some work...

The short answer:

It can be done, you will need custom steering head bearings made / ordered if you use the GSXR triples, plus probably a few other minor things to figure out for yourself.

If you use CBR 929/954 triples you will need custom wheel and rotor/caliper spacers made.

Unlike the CBR forks there aren't a easy set of parts to order and plop in.. That is why I started out with 3 sets of GSXR forks and ended up putting in CBR954 forks..

The one option that I have not seen anyone try, but it might work, is swapping the steering stem on the GSXR triple for one from a Honda.. but I don't know if that will work.

I used the triples from the 04 GSXR 600, steering stem and all.

My question is why do a 99 GSXR 750? They're still standard forks. It would seem like you could do upgraded springs in the SH forks, and a brake upgrade to get the same benefit.

Erik: what steering head bearings did you use?

My understanding was that the lower bearing is easy to source, but the upper has to be ordered special as the GSXR one has the wrong outer diameter and the Honda one the wrong inner diameter. (not hard to do, but not in a standard part catalog)

Not sure if it's easier to do the custom steering stem bearing or just use the CBR triples. I chose the CBR triples on my bike, but I did some other things a bit differently too so it didn't really matter. It would be nice if someone would buy a dozen or so top steering stem bearings. That would make life a whole lot easier for guys in the future!

I got the bearings from All ***** Racing. The lower is stock SH and the upper is a machined bearing. They machine a bearing down, and they keep a few in stock. Made life easy since I had the whole front end. Didn't have to try and mix and match CBR triples.

That's what I thought I remembered.. If I were to do this all over again it's how I would do it, with the GSXR forks I got for cheap. But I am happy with the 954 setup, it just cost a little more.

Wanted to resurrect this thread. Erik, do you have any pics of the forks? Are they shorter? I was wanting to do the gixer swap but wanted to get the details first. Thanks...

There is more info on the GSXR swap in this thread.

https://www.superhawkforum.com/forum...p-guide-23751/

It is my understanding that the 600 and 750 forks are the same in most years.

So 22, does that allow 929 wheel and spacers and brakes?

I used 929 bearings and inner collar with an RC51 wheel the hub should be the same, the calipers should fit on the 01 but the rotors would be too big but you can use RC51 or 600-1000rr rotors they have the same bolt pattern and are the same diameter as gsxr.
