Basic upgrade list

I have read that Super hawks have a few easily addressed flaws but cannot find a thread listing them all in one area.

What are the most common fixes to a stock Hawk to improve reliability?

For reliability, just the two that I listed in your other post

I can vouch for switching over to a MOSFET R/R. My stocker went up and I've no problems with the new MOSFET unit. Worth the money.

Do the r/r and ccts ASAP! I had my r/r go out and fry my battery and my front cct go out all this weekend. Might want to clean up your kickstand switch also, mine was dirty as hell and malfunctioned on me yesterday and I would have been stranded without 7moore7's help. I got the bike and said "oh ill fix these things later ill be ok", don't do that!

Aja,

I think you're the most unlucky Superhawk buyer on the Central Coast.
CCT's, R/R and kickstand switch failures all within a week?
Sheesh...
I'll swing on by- when you get your CCT's and we'll pop them in. It takes about 90 minutes.

Here's a quick list from memory... some of it is pretty subjective and I have tackled many but not all of the changes listed.

FLAWS:
  • CCTs - Switch to manual, change stock to manual, or be comfortable with some risk of failure.
  • R/R - Replace/Upgrade and/or keep a back-up on hand.
  • Front Suspension - Upgrade or replace with inverted forks (CBR, GSXR, RC-51, etc.)
  • Shock - Upgrade to match performance of front end changes.
  • Front brakes - Upgrade pads + SS lines, or replace/upgrade system.

OTHER UPGRADES:
  • Pipes - Enjoy sounding like a sewing machine, "baffelectomy", or upgrade (Slip-ons or a full system)
  • Carbs/Intake - Rejet if necessary (see Pipes), stick w stock filter to avoid headaches.
  • PAIR system - Remove if it bugs you.
  • Shifting & Foot Controls - Factory Pro kit for less clunky shifts. Adjust lnikage for better shifter position and less play. Rear sets for higher foot position+"bling".
  • Bars - Upgrade for comfort... lots of options.
  • Seat - Upgrade for comfort... Seargent, Corbin or customize stock.

This list could go on and on.... Wheels, electrical improvements, lights, cosmetic work, Bearings, CF bits, Optimal oils, etc. Search the forum for endless options on any particular area.

Hopefully I'v covered the most common updaets, but I am sure someone else will chime in with the one "Must Fix" item I forgot.
