Steel Horse Ride 2007;
I'm still new to this site, but not new to bikes or group rides. My first group ride was with TORCHES ACROSS AMERICA in 2002..San Diego to New York to attend 1 year Memorial of 9/11. Then in 2004 rode Coast to Coast in Canada on the Steel Horse Ride for Circle Square Ranches..on that ride we raised $250,000 for kids and camps. In 2007 we are planning another Steel Horse from Armstrong B.C. to Barrie Ont. July 19-August 4... But I'm also wondering are there VTR riders in the North and West who would like to do a ride as part of Steel Horse or seperate?? I would love to ride to Deal' Gap but the time of year and distance make it unworkable. But I know that B.C., Washington, Montana, Idaho..etc.. have some of the best roads in the World for riding...I would be happy to help set some things up if there is interest...
As Aargorn said in RETURN OF THE KING..."..What say you?"

You're right, Dave! Some of the most beautiful country in the world and so big! I did a trip from western Washington east through Idaho and Montana and then south into Wyoming and on to Colorado. The crosswinds in Wyoming were weird but truly awesome sights and great roads.

Agreed..
One of the great travel areas is Montana..western side..and southern..it's not expensive..the people are a great..I love going down there. Southern B.C. has some amazing roads.. Did you do the Cascades Highway out to Winthrop?..Did you do the Bearstooth Pass in Wyoming..that is one the most incredible pieces of highway compared to any on the planet. I'd love to see a Super Hawk ride in the area you mention..Some day maybe..

It's been many moons and I would have to look at a map to retrace my steps. Most of my travels in BC were by helicopter or by water. I did do some rummaging around in the Cascades - just not a big fan of the ocean scene that far north. Too foggy! When we were more inland and away from the coastal effects, I really enjoyed the country. They say everything is bigger in Texas - I dunno - the Northwest has its own kind of big and it's BIG!
Wanted VTR Riders
I was in a conference call with Leadership of Circle Square Ranches and they are excited about the 2007 STEEL HORSE RIDE. It's starting on both coast in Canada and riding into Ontario. Starts in St John NFLD on July 22 and in Armstrong B.C. on July 19..If there are riders in the North West USA or Western Canada..if you are interested do a Google Search for Circle Square Ranch then click on Steel Horse Ride...it would be great to have more Sport bikes on this ride...it's always fun to pass wobbling cruisers.. Great cause ..fantastic trip..lot's of perks
Talk to me if interested

Hey Nuhawk;
Yeah, that's correct. Both groups converge on a Ranch Camp North of Barrie Ont.. I will be leading the Western group. We have some good riding in B.C...then kind of roll across the Prairies..then have some terrific riding in North Ontario along the North Shore of the lakes..taking the ferry across to the Bruce Pennisula..great highways through there..It will be a blast. We challenge the riders to raise support for the camp.. We will help with some meals, some lodging, oversight, and a chase vehicle.. Last time we went West Coast to NFLD..incredible ride..this time we reduced the miles per day..making it more fun... Last time about 95+ riders raised $250,000..there is T.V coverage..quite a deal really..

If we could rally a bunch from Texas we could make it a three coast affair! I was in hopes the central meeting point would be a little farther west but it sounds like it's at the Camp itself. I looked at it in Expedia. What is the mileage for the BC riders?

Hey Nuhawk;
The Ride for Armstrong B.C. to Barrie Ont. is about 3500 miles..spread over 17 days riding..about 200 per day...Rallys, Bike Rodeos, Suppers etc..as fund raisers, p.r., some tourism etc...There are 11 Circle Square Ranches in Canada spread from Coast to Coast...Money raised is for sponsoring needy kids and development of programs and facilities...American riders can donate or collect donations on the U.S. side through a division there and recieve tax deductable reciepts.
