Windscreen Info Please

Looking to get a new windscreen for my 98 Superhawk and am looking for any info or recommendations please.

I was told that the ones from Zero Gravity will act as a magnifying glass in the sun and melt my instrument cluster. Does anyone have experience with them? I really was thinking about the "Double Bubble" from ZG.

Any info would be great!

Thank you!

I think any of the dubble/bubble screens can do this - its just reflection internally being focused when at the right angle.

I have a Puig db screen and like it - it is thick, fit perfectly and has held up well. Come in all color tint options.

I've heard that about the double bubble windscreens.
I had a regular Zero Gravity screen (not the DB). It was a nice part.

I haven't seen anywhere that it's boys only. Welcome to the club!

I have had my Zero Gravity DB for over a year. No issues as of yet. I have the dark smoked.

Going on 2 years for me with one of these and no issues... It definitely does deflect the wind up higher over you.

Just put a Puig db on my hawk. It came with a warning sticker not to park the bike with the sun shining behind it(on the gauges and the inside of the shield), but it was ok with the sun shining on the front.

Puig Dark Smoke on mine. Very well made & solid. No hints of melting gauges anywhere. After installing it, I had to learn to support my upper body using my arms since the wind was no longer giving any support whatsoever. I keep the bike outside always, and there are no signs of aging after 3 years.

Double Bubbles on the VTR's are usually fine....DB's on the RC51's tend to melt the gauges. My buddies CBR1000 has one....left it out in the sun at work...came out and his gauges had melted to a point where you couldn't even tell they were gauges. He now just uses his gloves to cover the gauges up.

I've been around the horn with the windscreens. Stock, Mephis Shades, Zero Gravity, now a Givi touring shield.
So far, my prefence is with the Zero Gravity DB. Check out:

Sweet thank you!

Hey do you notice a significant difference in the touring versus the DB with the wind deflection? (I know probably a dumb question...)

Yeah, there is quite a bit of difference. The DB drove the wind towards my chest, the touring screen above and around my helmet.
I guess for daily commuting / traffic, I like the "lift" I get from the DB, takes some wieght off of the wrist, while at freeway speeds the touring is quite nice.
Hope that helps a little......

Oh... a quick note... nothing proven, but seems logical...

Dark smoke/dark tint whatever should be least likely to toast the gauges...

Clear DB seems like asking for trouble in that regard...

remember - its the reflection back and down onto the guages thought to be the problem, not through transmission of light through the screen. So has to be parked with the light coming from the rear of th bike. Not sure how much the color of the screen matters, though I guess dark might absorb more of the light?

I just ordered and installed my Zero Gravity DB, and I did order it from Indy Superbike. Good service, timely shipping. $80 and change after shipping and tax.

Like everyone else said, it changed the air flow a lot. I'm 6'2", I can tuck a lot better now, but am also comfortable sitting up right since it hits me in the shoulders instead of the solar plexes.

Welcome to the forum. Where in CO are you? My parents live in Loveland.

Hi Erik,

Thank you for the info! I'm definately leaning toward the Zero Gravity DB... and I'm 5' 10" so I'm hoping it will deflect some when I'm on the highway and such, do you think it will cause the 'hit area' to be my head? LOL don't want my head blown off....

I live outside Colorado Springs... I tend to stay out of the city, I have a few acres so I can have a Motocross track... I have to keep that addiction happy too!

Hey I was in Loveland this weekend at a motorcycle shop... TriCity Cycles, I raced Berthoud this weekend and had to get a 51 tooth rear sprocket (that is such open fast track).

Take care!

Might want to check these guys out for a Zero Gravity DB. http://myworld.ebay.com/zgoutlet It is the outlet for Zero Gravity. They sale off all the blemished screens and over runs. I have personally bought 2 screens from them and ordered 3 others for friends. Only 2 have had issues and all were under where the fairing overlaps. It looked like a bubble in the the tenting but was in the screen. If you don't see one for the Superhawk just email them and tell them what you need. Done this a couple of times and every time they had what I needed.
