What would you take for your Hawk?

Assume someone, a friend, really loves your Honda Superhawk. In real world dollars, what would you take to give up that bike. Keep in mind, this is YOUR bike we're talking about, not some made up in your mind bike that doesn't exist. With all faults, with all the mods, what would it take for you to go Hawk-less? As an example, I have a 2000 that I have $3500 dollars in. That includes buying it, a few fixes, new tires for inspection, etc. My brother (actual brother, not bro) wanted it so bad I gave it to him. So my answer, I guess, is zero dollars.

You know. I never considered ever selling my S/H.
Too many memories-good times/and some bad.
Within the last year been stocking up on replacement
parts "just in case". Heads/Trans/outer casings/etc.
I recently picked up a 2nd gen. VFR700F2 in white.
Saw the bike listed on Craig's and decided to take
a look. Ruff cosmetically but lower miles than mine.
Less than half the miles. Took her for a spin and was
the first time for me on a V-4. Smooth, not as much
lower/mid as the S/H but it had a "classic" feel to it.
The gear driven cams also has a sweet sound( not as
sweet as the V-Twin with Two Bros.) But I find that
for certain rides, I would prefer the VFR. For Sunday
casual slower highway rides I would take the VFR.
For more technical, faster, distance rides the S/H-
especially with the Sargent seat and Heli-Bars/Vista
Cruise.
So as for the OP question, hard to say. $3500+cost
of spare parts. I have more in spare parts than I paid
for the VFR. Really becoming attached to the VFR now.
Quiet, smooth, and "classic" white.

P.S. Anyone got or know of anyone selling a solo rear
cowl for a '86-'87 VFR?

This is almost like selling your fingerprints. Yes, it will be painful, yes, blood will be spilled, I think not.

The members here who have participated in my builds know how personal the bike is to me. That said and the tuning set, I would first look at the buyer. The only person in the world that would be interested in my Superhawk would be an owner who has grenaded an engine or had a crash. At 170 to 190 pounds on the suspension the bike is an awesome ride. $7000 or it sits - on stands.

Uhhh... not that it would ever happen... $6,500. Only because I've calculated what I could get for it parting it out... which evidently I could never bring myself to do. Let's not even get started on sentimental value!

Even with mine in 200 pieces I will not get rid of her. I have laid down many a bikes in my short time of riding, but I am scared to let this girl go. My two cents.

$2500 yesterday. After this mornings Sunday morning flogging on Hwy 1, $5000.

Too hard to replace this bike with something similar at anything less then 5k.

Just MAYBE if some idiot -willing to trade a RC-51 for one of my older S-hawks 1998, 1999..
Yet, when the question is of my 2001 S-hawk -the same as reading above.. once you have established a relationship, with "YOUR" bike(the only person that rides that bike)(or the first person to have ever ridden that bike) so you really call it your motorcycle..(I have been the only one to ride this bike, since the original owner, didn't come back with us from the east)

Then the time you spend -maintaining, and the miles you have traveled...
Is there really a price you could set on this question????

450,000 yen like what I paid for it.

A few extra dollars into love and care for it (levers etc), I'd like what I originally paid

The s1000rr is next on the must have list.

Actually, RK1, my Sabre is a V65. 1100cc's of V4 push and it's currently on craigslist for sale. I bought it new and if it won't sell(it won't)I'll probably be parting it out just for the money. It's a shame. P.S. I'd take 2500 for it, Bro.

i wouldn't be happy to sell this bike, but i might be tempted for 10 grand. Then i could buy 3 or 4 more.lol

To me, it's not about what it's worth to someone else, it's about replacement value, and with the great diversity and amazing bikes available today, it would be a difficult decision.

I remember when I first saw this 98' SH in 2000(4500miles on it), I was so intrigued with its looks and sound I asked to take it for a test ride. That's all it took. Loved it. (By the way, if you're happily married, don't be takin any sweet lookin chickadees for a test ride because this could happen to you, and it would likely be more than the cost of a shitload of SHs.haha)

Anyway, I had an 88' cbr1000 hurricane purchased new with upgraded wheels/tires, and a 93' xr650l and sold both quickly to buy the SH.

Until this "love at first ride" happens again, I have no plans to part with this bike. If I could improve the SH, I would go with Ohlins suspension, maraschini wheels, carbon fiber swingarm, led lighting, and get rid of 150 lbs of weight. The weight loss could be relatively easy, but then i'd only weigh about 25 pounds(well below jockey weight) and would have to buy all new gear.

So you finally got rid of that POS! Bout time, it was nuthin but trouble.
I'd make him pay you enough to get a real cool scooter so you can join that ride next year.

It would take a substantial wad of cash for me to part with mine, especially given all the time and money I have into it. Truth be told, I don't think I will ever part with it. Not only has it fulfilled the goals I set out for it, it is a symbolic piece for me as I have taken it further than I ever took any vehicle before (and the ride is not yet over... still scan a few sites, including this one, and eBay for choice bits....) so it's a part of my life now......

I think I would sell my Hawk for a fair price one day? So many bikes out there I would love to own. Mostly all twins! I would really like to buy a BMW HP2 Sport or an early model Aprilia Racing Tuono. Also like the look of the newer RC8 ktm racing thing. Still very happy with the Superhawk as a great do almost everything bike.

I don't think I could come up with a price, I just spent way more than it's worth updating it.

I wouldn't take anything less than $4K. Mine is in mint condition, only 10K miles, and I don't foresee any problems in the near future(knock on wood). If somebody were to stop me and say hey I've got the cash and show it to me sure I'd do it. Right now I just couldn't part with it. If it ain't broke don't fix it. That's all I'd be doing by trying to sell it is trying to get something else. Right now I'm happy with the running bike that I have.

Wolverine, I never did get to ride with the scooter folks. I arrived way early and didn't want to wait for them to eat so I rolled out on my own. Spent the day riding thru the hills and had a great time, but no scooter companions.

+1
I don't ever foresee comtemplating selling it. Just too much memories. I bought it brand new in 2000, Did most of the work myself, and it's part of my personality. All my family in friends call it my firstborn. I had it before the kids. And it still draws attention, turns heads everywhere I go with it.
So No. Not for sale... My son, who's 5 now, already has a "classic" bike waiting on him when I'm done and gone...

Today the bike is worth somewhere around 3k. Someone looking at it today and it may be sold. But... there is a chance that the Yoshi pipes will be available if anyone is interested.

I will probably put the stock pipes back on. I will sell the pipes for $300 if you want them. They are in perfect, 4 months old condition. Also included is the volume insert.
