What Leathers Should I Get!

I want to start doing some trackdays and I guess I'm going to need some leathers. Where should I start the search, should try to find some used ones in my size on the WERA/Nesba forum or should i just shell out the cash for some shiny new ones? Whats a good price to pay for a good 1-piece?

BTW im new to this whole online posting thing, let me know if i screw up (im sure you will)

New Enough has some good deals on leather suits. Generally, a 1pc suit is the best protection.

Definitely try some on before you buy.

I bought a nice set of used 1 piece leathers for a under $200 a few years back. They were not a big name brand & were made in Pakistan. I have crashed them @ the track a couple times & they did great. So there are bargains out there, but you have to be patient.

Also, try this site: www.motorcyclecloseouts.com

BTW... my Fieldsheer gloves crashed very well... the Technics, not so much.

whatever you get. Don't get moto gp Kangaroo suits. they look great but will not hold up in a crash I have the missing skin to prove it. dont get there gloves one of our club racers lost a finger when his glove shreded. btw both of these crashes were lowsides.
my frank thomas titaniam pro suit that cycle gear replaced for free after that crapy suit blew up. held up fine in the crash I had last month. i know it's not the best suit and it's heavy but it did it's job when it counted.

If you go with Frank Thomas get the Ti pro and NOT the strike 2, the s2 is more for street and doesn't hold up as well in track conditions. After saying that if you don't mind using someone elses suit go used, I got 2 suit for just over $100 each once you've become addicted you can always upgrade.

+1 I've had both suits and the Ti pro is a much better suit in every way. stiching is better as well at the level of protection.

I already own a pair of A* smx boots, I can't remember if they are 3s or 4s, ya think they are good enough for track use? Also I have a pair of vented rev-it gloves, think i should upgrade those?

Be very aware that all leathers fit differently. Try on suits before you buy. Many suits get resold on wera, nesba, etc due to sizing. A 48 spidi is diff than a 48 teknic. Once you have the brand/size ratio you can get great deals on these sites on near new(nice& broken in) stuff. Ask the guy his ht/wt & how they fit.

also check craigslist.org in your area.
I just picked up a set of one piece Fieldsheer racing leathers with full hard armor, that fit me perfectly for $165 used of course but in great shape.

Yup, Craigslist is a good source. I picked up an old Honda Racing HRC suit that's about 85-90% of new for two hundred. It's a little long for me but it fits the kid perfect.

Frank Thomas is good stuff. I have a set of the first Strike series and have a pair of the black Stike 2 pants. I only wear it on the street. Seems like good stuff but it zips like they drive - wrong side of the street.

Thanks for the link 8541. I'll always try locals like this because usually the deals are solid and the garments are 150%. They may lack a little style - obviously they do mostly Harley-lookers but everybody has to make a buck. I added the link to my favorites because a couple of their styles are good - very good at $159!
