Went down last night...

Went down last night...

On Redwood RD in Castro Valley, CA. Bike is thrashed (not sure it its worth repairing or buying another and use this one for parts) and t busted my knee up pretty good and fractured my hand.

Ill include a link to a video of the turn i went down in but its not me in the video. Apparently a lot of bikes have donated parts to this corner in the past.

OWWWWWWW! Hope it feels better than it looks. BTW lived on Redwood Rd as a kid 55+ years ago and have been back several times, but never had the pleasure of riding it. Doesn't it come out at the reservoir? Another BTW, I was born in Alameda. Do I hear Twilight Zone music?

Not ATGATT I'm guessing by the visual aids you provided. Is there any lessons in there for you and us? Mine looked worse that yours but I got it back together. If it didn't hit anything solid, the frame is probably ok. Heal quickly goose.

Its just one of those turns that sneaks up on you, and it caught me a little off my game. I am looking at what I will need parts wise and it might be better to just buy another SH and swap out my rear setup, dampner, and pipes. I donno yet

Well Redwood does claim a few bikes every year.... I hope you did learn about wearing gear. If you need any help getting the bike back together, just let me know as you crashed about 5-6 mi. from my house.

Oh and the reservoir is called Lake Chabot...

Oh man that sucks. It could have been a lot worse. What were you wearing to take that much knee damage? And I know al about corners sneaking up on you I almost went down twice Friday night from them. I gotta join the vultures here. I don't suppose your Headlight took some damage ? If the lens broke and the rest is good and you wanna get rid of it let me know I need a housing for my retrofit and ill just reuse my lens. :-)

Hey Neighbor! So sorry your hurt, but glad you lived to tell about it. I know that road well, as a young rider I would ride it everyday , sometimes to Oakland, Skyline rd. ,
sometimes to Moraga, I think it's called Pinehurst Rd. I had at least three errors of judgment that I can recall that left me with a broke bike and body. What I also gained from each of the mishaps was experience . The kind that they don't teach in schools. it's one thing to talk about target fixation but its never really understood until you live it. I have a box of parts and I'm close by, Chris at cycle salvage in Hayward , is a master of plastic welding . Anyway glad your OK... where do we send your I did battle on redwood road badge?

In Hawaii I would ride without my lid on rare occasions. But I do wear it 99.9% of the time.

Sucks doesn't it.. Your leg look better than mine.. Good thing you're alright... Heal up fast put some ointment on that thing.. Silver Sulfadiazine will do, take the pain out.. Feel actually pretty good when you put it on the rash.. 3 week... don't let it get hard and get infected.. I learn it the hard way but don't clean it with peroxide it will eat your skin and hurt like a SOB.. distilled water and soap is the way to go.. Yea amazing what you learn after a wreck.. good luck
