Two SuperHawks climb GMR - YouTube
Two SuperHawks descend GMR - YouTube
Two SuperHawks ride up Hwy 39
Our bikes are stock except for slip-ons and sliders...I'm still saving up to get some suspension stuff done

Well as an old guy, I do need to make a couple of comments on the first video.
I hope this is not taken wrong and if I was riding with you guys, I would have this talk with you at the next stop but as it is I have to make some public comments, not private, like I would prefer.
So with that, if you are the rider filming in the "climb" video, my comment is it does look like to tend to run wide on your corner exits. Now it might just be the fish eye of the camera lens but after watching it closely I don't think so.
The lines you are running leave you no room for correction if you see something on the road or if something unexpected happens. So I would suggest that you work on your lines and on finishing the corners.
For the guy in the front. IMHO it does look like his main concern is putting a knee down, not riding clean lines. If you watch him, he over leans to start the corner (trying to touch down a knee IMHO) and then you see him correct his line 2-3 times after that. The effect is you see him bouncing around instead of carving a nice clean line. This will also get you in trouble in the long run.
So I can only hope you don't take any of this the wrong way, I really am only trying to help you guys out.

Car 54 Where R U
Where is GMR? Presumably near LaLa Land (LA, CA). No knock as I'm from SD and know Mt Palomar etc well.
BTW, in the 1st vid the VTR with VFR bars & clutch & brake MC, whats with that & the oe rubber hoses?
2nd vid, your VTR needs a c & b fluid change bad.
Those were the days (b4 U were born probably). Been a flatlander since 81, sigh.

Thanks for the comments guys...I am a really new rider (2-3 months experience) and do not take offense at all.
8541Hawk I could not agree with you more about my riding in the first video...I was too busy practicing getting off the bike and my lines were very untidy as a result...especially at the start...unfortunately you can't see it in the later part of the video but I do start to do better (you don't see me bouncing around the corner entry like that). With respect to the lack of safety...I somewhat agree with you however this is a rather unique instance because I have every corner in this particular canyon memorized and though it may not look like it I do slow down and leave a margin for safety...before I ever got into motorcycles I would run this canyon probably 3 times per week at night in my car (ok admittedly the "safety" of that is questionable also
I wasn't specifically trying to touch a knee down, I had already done that earlier in the day...just practicing the form...(hehe as you can see I need to practice a number of skills)
We aren't kids but we're still young whippersnappers compared to some of the folks on the forum so perhaps we're not as risk adverse as some...either way I take your comments in the positive light they were made...thank you.
I am going to record my upcoming track day and post it here as well and I'm sure there will be lots more opportunity to get some tips from experienced riders on that too
skokievtr: can you elaborate? my bike (2nd vid) does not run smoothly do to an exhaust leak on one side (which is also why it sounds weird). I am having this addressed later this month. Oh, and the clutch and brake MC look different because one of the bikes is a 2005 (they changed these items for year 2005 only). If you mean clutch and brake fluid...I think it is a trick of the light...I changed these both myself 2000 miles ago.

Well if you notice, I never said or used the term "safety".
Though I will say I did peg it with the "trying to get the knee down" assessment....
So my comments are just a fellow list member trying to keep you out of the ditch, nothing to do with safety.... ( well I guess it could be considered a safety thing but that wasn't what I meant....)

I did write out what to look for in a post a while back but it is way to later to write all that out again.....
Shoot me a PM and We can talk about what you would need to look for and all that and even have a someone in the area I might be able to set something up with.
Once again, not trying to be no worries on any of the other stuff. You did take the first post very well, so I do know it's just you don't know my smart assed sense of humor yet...
Trying to teach yourself is a tough job anymore as the bikes are so good, even stock, that a crash really does hurt....
