Tips and tricks
Ok i am looking to remove my rear fender and front blinkers for something a little sleeker. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also am thinking of a smoked screen anyone know someone that has one for sale or a good deal on one?
any tips for cutting the rear would be very helpful. I have some LED's i can use for the license plate light.
I have searched for right ups on the rear tail but haven't found anything that is spelled out real clear. Seen a lot of nice finished work though.
tyia!!!!!!

Personally, smoked covers scare me a little. I see them on bikes all the time, and the light dimness is just not worth the cool factor. You can sorta see the lights at night but during the day it's hard to tell if they're even on. Clear seems to work pretty well. I put an led integrated turn signal unit in my red housing and really like the effect. When you have the ambient light from a red translucent cover it's easier to see. I like flashing my brakes at stoplights and seeing the bumper behind flicker red...
My licence plate is held on with black zip-ties. I have no idea how the undertails of these things work as my was ditched long ago, but you may look into that option. I wove a long tie through each side, coming out at the top and going in at the bottom so you can't see the connector mechanism or any loops. Say what you want about zip ties- but they're effective, heat resistant, versatile, and cheap as free.

Use a cheap metal 4" putty knife to cut the rear fender. Mark a line with a pencil and straightedge, then heat up the putty knife with a torch, and it will slice a nice straight line through the plastic. Make the left hole in your plate bigger and use the lock in that hole, and a screw in the right side.

Here's one way:

I jacked mine from a clear LED integrated turn signal rear light for the VTR. It's visibly more noticeable than with the clear cover, which was a double bonus.

I'm thinking you're talking about a tinted wind screen, not headlight cover correct? I've tried a few & like the Puig double bubble best. Also, if you want to go a step further than bobbing your fender.

I shaved my front blinkers and got integrated eBay mirrors since I got it without mirrors
I also cut up the back fender, removed the license plate light and reflector, installed an integrated brake light with license light, and moved my plate up. I plan to mount it like Vtrumble has his.
The smoked integrated light actually isn't dim at all (except this picture is bad quality and it looks the leds are not all the same brightness, but they are. This is just the running lights, when the brakes are on it lights up pretty good.
And with the blinker on, half of the light flashes red-yellow-red etc
