Swatt Motorcycle Products & The Non-Existent Refund...

Back in June of this year I bought a set of Swatt clip-on's for my buddies SV1000S as a birthday gift. The bars were a great deal for the money and Swatts customer service was on par with any other reputable manufacturer/retailer = one satisfied customer. When I was doing my RC51 front end conversion on my VTR I went to Swatt first as I had already had a good experience with their product and service. So, on August 6th I ordered up another set of clip-on's and received them within 2 weeks.

Long story short, the bars would not work with my setup because of their design, no big deal... this is to be expected when doing a custom setup. I knew that Swatt was not obligated to refund me for the bars as fitment was not their fault, but I thought I'd give them a call anyways since returning them would be easier than selling them... or so I thought. I called them up and told Lyles the situation. He told me he could refund me no problem, so I packed them up and shipped them out on the 24th via Priority Post... they should of arrived by the 26th.

About 2 weeks after I returned them I called Lyles at Swatt to see about the refund since it had not posted to my account. He said they had been swamped and he would get on it asap. I called again about 2 weeks later, same story. I then started to call every Monday to stay on him about the refund and every time I called there was always some kind of excuse. For past 2 weeks I've been calling on a daily basis... a little excessive? Yes, but so is 2 months without a refund or bars to sell. Heck, this past week that I've been calling, no one picks up, all I get is their answering machine... damn caller ID!

So here I am 2 months after I returned my bars to Swatt... out $171.71.

Thanks Swatt!

When I did mine I had to call Swatt to get them to ship them in the first place.. About 4 weeks after I paid for them! It was due to flooding in his part of the country, but they could have said something, let me know it was going to be delayed etc.

So while I am happy with the quality of the end product, dealing with them isn't always easy.

Did you get confirmation that they got back the clipons?

If your "account" is a credit card you can call customer service and get the charge removed. That's why I only use a CC when ordering stuff.

As for caller ID you could call from another phone, but that sounds like a waste of time at this point.

Unfortunately I did not get delivery confirmation when I shipped them out, but Lyles did confirm that they had them. I've looked into doing a dispute with the PayPal Mastercard I used, but they want a delivery confirmation number.

paypal is your second problem. I've been screwed by them several times. if you use them, you do with the risk of losing your money. That sucks though. hopefully you can get it resolved. maybe we should all randomly call and suggest he send your money back soon.

I just recieved my SWATT risers around 5 weeks after placing my order. Nice product at a great price, but total PITA as far as getting them.

I called at least once a week for the last 3 weeks, it was a new excuse every time. They had a problem with the machine shop, their annodizing guy screwed them over, they where swamped with orders. Blah blah blah.

I would still recommend them, just prepare to wait.

I really hate excuses, shows lack of professionalism.

I have the rc front end on also. did you take any pics or can you describe what problems you ran into with fitment? which rise were you trying? would they fit abve the triple clamp etc. would be nice to have option beside the handlebars that actually work and get a narrower grip. these new lightweight wheels are SO light that the handlebars provide lightning quick inputs with all that leverage. OK, exageration, but would be nice to have options.

I purchased a 3.5" rise intended to go under the 945RR upper triple. The problem I ran into was the the rearward bend on the riser wouldn't clear the top of the fork. I could of (and should have) used a 2.5" rise above the triple.

thanks. so there would have been room above the 954 top triple for them? And how would the 2.5 rise compared to the helis you are using?

I'm not sure how the 2.5" rise bars would of worked above the clamp, but I imagine it might still interfere with the fairing... I may of had to use the 1.5" rise.

Man I am glad I didn't go with them for anything. Sorry to hear you guys had problems with them. One of my biggest pet peeves is lack of customer service.
