Yeah, that's what I'm hearing now - great news!

 

 

Good news if true. Haven't heard anything about Hidden Creek Cafe in Big Tujunga Canyon.

 

Man, Austin, Tx is just a story waiting to happen.

Development with out any regard to fire control up these canyons of cedar is unconscienable. A few years back when those five fighters got caught in that canyon in CA firecheifs across the country convened to compare notes. Cities with similar scenarios were rated as to threat of the same thing. Austin was number 4 on the list.

At that time, the response was, if your home was on the canyon wall and the flames are predicted to race up the wall faster than control can be assured, a red x is painted in your driveway and they don't even try.

California has made this entire priority system obsolete in two years. They have clearly demonstrated to us - when it happens - it's coming!

Obama wants to put people to work they need to be clearing this brush out of our urban forests.

I have a customer who has single-handedly cleared her lot and the three next to and below her. She's retired IBM, hiked the Myans, mows her own yard. Has three Beemers in the garage - two on stands. Weighs about 120. It took her three years to haul all this **** to the curb every week but she did it and did a dam good job.

Unfortunately for Barbara a fire like this can send embers for several hundred yards depending on the wind. The fire may never get to her but the ambient temperature may be a problem.

Just think of all the clumsy gym memberships she has avoided.

as of this hour, newcombs is still OK.... the fact that i was able to ring
through at the bar phone this AM for the 1st time in days means that the
power (generator) is on... there was somebody (i assume victor) on the
line... i also hear that several dozen firefighters have returned to the
Chilao area including kenny.... there is still serious threat in there and
the fight is just beginning on this side of the fire.

There's truth in that. The bigger truth is that the EPA, BLM, Forest Service have been taken over by leftist pagan earth worshiping environmental fanatics who won't let the forests be managed.

The forest is choked with brush and dead fall. If you try to take some of it to cook your food or heat your home, they will arrest you.

There is a county in New Mexico where poor folks were taking dead fall to cook and heat their homes. Feds starting arresting them.

County Sheriff told Feds he'd arrest them if they didn't stop and shoot them if they resisted arrest. Posse Comitatus! Feds left the county. People got their wood. No out of control forest fires in that county since.

I'd give that Sheriff the Medal of Freedom.
