Superhawk in trouble.

I just bought a 2001 r1 and I'm wondering how dusty the poor hawk is going to get. I can't sell it it's just to much fun.

Congrats on the R1 - Most of the guys I ride with all have R1's, mostly silver though.

Post up some pics already!

It's definatly blue, I have'nt ridden it yet, but soon enough. I could'nt pass it up for 5g's I like the older r1's better than the new one's looks, but there all sexy.

Re: Superhawk in trouble.

60 in mn today so I got my first ride on the r1. WOW, it's got more pull at 4g's than my hawk and it's stupid lite. What an absolute blast to ride. The last time I rode an I4 it had no midrange, but this thing is all about it. Any one else ever ride one at all? It does'nt have as much character as the hawk but damn is it fun to ride.

never rode a R1, however i did ride a buddies CBR1000, and man that thing was pretty impressive! Tons of power everywhere. Talk about power wheelies...forgetaboutit!!!!!!! Damn near every gear the front would come off the ground, even when you didn't want it to. All the newest liter bikes have insane amounts of hp. He dynoed his w/power commander, full exhaust and it was 177 hp! Thats pretty nutty.
Sweet bikes, made me want to go out and buy one. But I think I'll just wait a get a RC-51 instead.

Re: Superhawk in trouble.

I dunno, where will it end? Remember when the Hayabusa was supposed to be the "end all, be all" for crazy adrenalin junkies? Now the thing is a tank compared with these new bikes. I'm not saying I wouldn't want one, the new GSXR1000 is dead sexy, but I shudder at what I'd do with it. A measely 105hp still can get me into sphincter tightening territory dam quick.

2 of my friends had 02 R1s.

great bikes, but the rear shock will wear out pretty quickly.

Re: Superhawk in trouble.

I hav'nt had a chance to push it hard yet, so I don't have an answer as to how planted it is, but the front is very light with minimal throttle .We'll see as sonn as it gets warmer. And my hawk is planted but the stock forks suck so bad you can't push that either!
