Is the stator cover supposed to have oil in it?
Is the stator cover supposed to have small amounts of oil in it? My battery wouldn't charge & I narrowed it down to the stator. RR is off a 05 gsx-r 600, tested the three charging lines against each other and two of them showed .2 ohms of resistance, while the last one showed 100+. Traced the line down to the underseat connections, pulled the stator connector off the RR, and retested. Same readings.
From that, I deduced that the stator is at fault. Opened it up & noticed that it's covered in a light coating of oil and there's a small puddle at the bottom of the cover. The stator looks a little charred & dirty.
I know I have to replace my stator, but is the oil normal?

I removed mine to repaint. The electrical system monitored by a voltmeter was working normal. Probably about a teaspoon or so of oil in it. I guess if it was meant to be dry it wouldn't have a gasket on it.

The oil is all down below that level in the (sump) just stand back and look at it you'll see what i mean.I read some where not to coast down hill with the motor off,I suspect things would be spinning with no oil being pumped up to that level.I bought a electrosport stator off the internet. It got here in 3 days,it took Honda 2 weeks to get my$8.00 gasket.Electro is good stuff, used them for years never had a problem.half the price of honda.
