I concur with RC996: a truck can be an indespensible tool. There isn't much I haven't thrown in the back of my pickup, small though it may be.

1998 SHawk
1997 Ford Ranger 4.0
1995 full-size Bronco 5.0
1986 Bronco II 2.9
1984 Olds Cutlass beater (yeah!)

Strangely enough I've never been concerned with fuel consumption or my vehicles' economy. I find other ways to be thrifty so I can keep my foot down and support America's desire to become the most filthy, hydrocarbon-producing, fuel-wasting, oil emir/despot-supporting DUMP.

I've got a 1989 Mazda B2600 4x4 with 289,xxx miles on it.
The body could use some rust work, but 'til this day it is still a solid work truck.

99 gmc jimmy 4.3 v6 - 20 mpg everywhere

my dad has a 02 2500 Chevy HD crew cab with the duramax deisel, reprogrammed computer, k&n intake and 4 inch exhaust it gets 22MPG!!! it gets better fuel mileage everytime he does something to increase power. it's suppose to be up to around 450 hp and 650-700 ft-lbs now since he has done all of this. it ran a low 14 second 1/4 spinning through first. not bad for something that weighs 6500 lbs.

what pisses me off is the trucks that have never seen their bed dirty. what's up with owning a truck if you are not going to use it for the purpose it was meant for...hauling stuff around?!
as for me, i currently own a 71 GMC k15. 350 CI engine. and i'm selling it, mostly for gas issues. going to buy a toyota tacoma. which get's more than 10 miles a gallon, right? (so, if anybody wants a 71 GMC K15 4x4, let me know. it has a new crate 350 engine, rebuilt TH350 trans, 203 transfer case, new rear drive shaft, a new painless wiring kit, more...)

as for my friends:
r6 and r1: rx7 twin turbo, and a jetta
01 monster 750, and 7 other bikes: an isuzu PUP!
r1: galant turbo
zx10: ram 1500
cbr600: 2000 mustang
some old piece of crap harley: 2006 nissan titan

'03 Chevy Avalanche, 8.1L big-block (496ci), modified, city- 10-11mpg Hwy- 14-17mpg. I love this truck but I don't drive it everyday. It gets used as a hauler for cars (motorsports), bikes, parts, wood, horses and whatever else needs towing.

'06 MINI Cooper S with the John Cooper Works package. City-24-28mpg Hwy- 32-38mpg

1972 BMW 2002 race car turned street/drifter car. Finishing up the restoration. Built, balanced & blueprinted stroker motor, 40mm side draft webers, full headers, exhaust, 5 speed swap, LSD 3.91 geared rear, big brakes, suspension upgrades, Recaro sport seats and the car likes the throttle. I would say it gets around 15-18mpg.

'05 Hayabusa with mods
'98 SuperHawk - getting mods
'97 VT1100C2 Cruiser with mods
'06 YZ125 stock (sick little bike)
2 - '03 YZ450F stockers (thinking about converting one to Supermoto and street legal)

For your research, I do own a truck, but I only use it when I truly need a truck or four wheel drive is warranted (winter snow and ice in the hills of PA/upstate NY). I don't use the truck much, I usually drive my little car to work to save gas (can't ride to work).

2 wheels:
1998 VTR 1000F
2006 Triumph Bonneville
1985 VT700C
4 wheels:
1993 Ford Escort (38 MPG!)
1995 Ford F-150 (19 MPG)
1990 VW Jetta (30 MPG)
