Silly Season In Oz
Well , it's here !
During major holidays here in Oz if you get caught speeding the fine is doubled.
That's the $!and points as well. Miraculously I have all of my points( You get a maximum of 12 points and if you lose them in a 3 year period you lose your license, I have suffered that 3 times )and want to keep it that way.
So ,
After fitting some Kreigers a long time ago I feel it's time to check them .
A good time to do some work on the VTR. This stupid law is in place until late January. The same as a winter but at the best riding time of the year.
I have heard a rattle from the top end and that is why I am doing this .

Every time I read a story like this from down under, or the UK, or Japan I remember how nice we have it here in the states..
Heck in my home state, get popped for 25 or less and you take a "education course" which just happens to be one of the courses I teach....and the ticket is dismissed, no fine, no points.
I drove our race truck and our sponsors shop truck like a mad man when we were in Oz...lucky i never got pulled over I guess.

GlockPointer,
That is just a sticker .
Xeris,
I have removed the valve covers and checked the tension on the Cam Chains.
The rear was the same at 6mm deflection however the front was to tight and I had to back it off to get 6mm of deflection. ( I had heard a rattle at 2600 revs on deacelleration and adjusted the front tensioner with the engine running and it didn't sound right so that is why I decided to check the tensioners properly )
I am hoping to have it all back together and running in the next couple of days.
I will get some pics together as well .

Decided to change the coolant and repaint the radiators while I was tinkering !
Going back together,
Fitted some bigger screws to the airbox to seal it properly, cleaned the air filter and sync'ed the carbs. They were a long way out and confirmed why I felt she was feeling flat .
Started her up and the good news is she is as quiet as a church mouse ( For a VTR anyway)
Only rattle I can now hear is the clutch.
Glad I did it as I now have peace of mind that the chains are right.
Also fixed my cracked rear hugger with a soldering iron and some left over abs plastic.
Have ordered a new one but was sick of chain lubbe going everywhere without the hugger fitted.
Now to refit the right muffler and fairing, going to refit the original mirrors as I am sick of only having one bar end mirror on the right side that is all but useless.
I might even chance a ride tomorrow , but I will have to be careful as it is still "Silly Season " with double demerit points and fines.
The Police are everywhere at the moment, got breath tested and drug tested yesterday. Funny thing is that the Policeman who tested me looked like he was Stoned !
Will post pics when she is all together.

No,
Here in Oz they give you a swab stick to rub inside your mouth then they put it in a tube with a liquid that detects various elicit substances.
It is common to be breath tested for alcohol and then tested with the swab for drugs.
So we have RBT- Random Breath Test and RDT - Roadside Drug Test.
In the area that I live over 60 people have tested positive to Drugs in the last couple of weeks. We are a major tourist destination at this time of year and our population trebles over the holiday break.
Another reason to stay of the road at this time of year.
