Just wondering... I have a 99 Honda superhawk.. And between the seat and the rear cowl there is like a 1/2 inch gap.. Is there a seal or some sort of a gasket that goes between the two??? I tried looking at some schematics on line but had no luck.. and who better to turn too.. the FORMS..

 

Mine kind of resembles your description when I have the passenger seat cowl off. I am not sure if there is a difference between years though, because mine is an '04. So, for me anyway, the space is there to allow for the passenger seat cowl(cover) to fit in.

I too have a 99 model and have the exact same problem. I am using a Sargent seat at the moment but the gap is there with the stock seat as well. It has no negative effect functionally (at least it has not for me in the past 40,000 miles) but it does take away from the aesthetics. Yep, it would sure be nice to have the rear seat cowl sit a bit closer to the (insert part name for plastic piece here, lol)

Maybe i should just but a passenger seat cowl(cover).. Maybe it would hide it a little better. It just drives me crazy seeing that gap their.. i even tried making my own rubber seal and that didnt turn out so well.. So got rid of it.

 

Vinyl door trim (black) makes a great accent that fills some of the gap. It looks great on the crimped edge at the bottom of the tank too.

I think he was talking about under the seat. BTW, does anybody have that part? I've never seen one actually on a SH.
