Rode away from a hurricane
So my friend has a Hurricane 1000 that he said is fast. We went for a ride yesterday and his eyes were opened to the world of V-twin motorcycles. At the first stop (after a slightly aggressive launch) he pulls up and says "that thing's fast". I hadn't really jumped on it yet, but had left him in my dust trail. After several small skirmishes, he was dumbfounded how I walked away from him, at any point (under 100mph) in the gear box. Later, we switched bikes. His bike (as most I4's do after riding a twin) felt like an electric bike. Smooth as silk, and actually a very comfortable riding position. It was very different, and the power just felt...lackluster. Granted, his bike is 10 years older than mine, I like mine!
As far as him on my bike, he didn't know how to act. He rolls on after a stop, around 25-30mph and it stands up on him. I'm behind, and I see his left foot come off the peg and I swore he was going down! Gave me a heart attack, and gave him a newfound love! The moral...love your bike, I'm not sure there's anything like the feel of seat of the pants accelleration.

I was determined to get myself a 1000F Hurricane since I had sold my last bike 3 yrs ago. This October I had my money and the boss's blessing and set forth to get me a Hurricane. There were none close to my area for sale so the search took a little while and during that search I ran across something called the VTR 1000. After much reading I got my bike and we now know which bike I wound up getting.

I thought so too. I think if the bike was...right, it would be faster. I'm sure if we got out on open road, where he could wind it up enough, it might have been different. Myself, I'd rather have bottom end than top.
