Riders with experience on 190/50 and 190/55
Anyone rode with both of these using a stock rim? I read on a tire supply site the 190/50 was for 5.5 and 6 inch rims. The 190/55 for lower than 5.5. Has anyone here used both? I like some experienced feedback.

190 you are changing the shape of the tire.. you dont need it its more harm then anything and instead of being nice and round its got more angle to it which messes up the contact patch.. instead of a smooth transition its less predictable in corners and more like the big drop on a rollercoaster. total waste of money..there are more knowledgable people on this site that can give you this explanation in a more technical sense but i ignored them and learned the hard way

This is what I'm thinking of going with [link below]. Besides, the tire pressure really influences the shape of tire so maybe a few psi less will allow the contact patch to change for the better. With all the weight applied on the tires, I seriously doubt there's a bad way to run these unless over inflated. Pinching is not really applicable; it's only 1/2 in... The question is 50 or 55 profile. And look below at the SIZE LIST on bottom of page. And I'm really liking the more softer rubber on edges of front tire. More confidence inspiring on the turns as opposed to my BT023 single compound in front tires.

I have used a 190/50 on my VTR a couple of times (the 190/55 is a special tire used mainly on Ducati models only). It was ok and I didn't really notice too much difference. On the same wheel the 180/55 and 190/50 aren't that much different in width. The 180 makes the rear feel a little lighter, or you could say it the other way that the 190 feels heavier. I put 180's on my VTR these days, FWIW.

....but not that much. The VTR is not going to spin the rear under power and that small amount of extra contact patch doesn't appreciably help cornering. It only nets you extra drag that slows you down. Don't forget there is rolling friction between the tire and road.

Ya good point. My buddy runnin a 190/55 Q2 on his Gixxer with 5.5 rim and he said it feels good. So I was wondering what you guys thought were.
Actually he was runnin 180/55 and he feels more confident with the 190/55. But then again could just be in his head.
