Rebuild a neglected one
Rebuild a neglected one
An undamaged, unmolested example! Good find. Shame about rust in the tank. Probably the toughest problem to get right. Consider fuel filters after you get the tank sorted.
Yup, ~25 year old rubber and plastic, especially in Phoenix is going to need attention.
If you rebuild the carbs yourself, the jets are different front and rear. Don't mix them up. Be very careful with the plastic fittings that are part of the enrichment circuit. Easily broken. There are brass replacements available, but not so simple to source. The vacuum operated petcock can cause issues with fuel delivery. Pay attention to where the lines connect to it.
Tip of the iceberg.

Would you recommend rebuilding the stock petcock or getting a non vacuum replacement.
Thanks ZKarma, I'm pretty excited. Any recommendations of brands for the MCCT's? My search on eBay seems to bring up a lot of the same looking non branded types.
I went with these ones from blackpathracing, but I'm sure many of the Ebay ones come from the same overseas factory.
I seem to remember going with this one, thinking the O-ring providing an additional level of sealing, but then just had the afterthought
(4yrs later) that o-ring isn't sealing diddly squat on those course threads, lol
