So how do you account for the part numbers? You'll notice the part numbers for the 954 and 929 are precisely the same (both M/C and caliper.)

Here's what I think: the ad copy was bogus.

Re: RC51 front brake MC

Perhaps, but the difference in the m/c piston diameter is pretty easy to check since it's cast into the piece. I had remembered that there were stated differences in the caliper pistons, so I Googled around and found several road tests that mentioned both the change in m/c diameter and caliper piston diameter.
I can't explain why the part numbers are the same.

I'll bet not one of them verified the press package. The part numbers don't lie.

Re: RC51 front brake MC

MC part numbers taken from Dynamohumm (a very reputable performance shop, OEM Honda parts section) Web site:

929: Product Code - 45510-MCJ- 006, $199 CAD $142 US

954: Product Code - 45510-MCJ-751, $182 CAD $129 US

See link: http://www.dynamohumm.com/HONDA/VTR%..._BLUE_BODY.htm (bottom of page)

Mine are from the Ron Ayers parts fiche. US Spec. Honda produced documents. Check 'em yourself.

I couldn't figure out how to look them up at the link you provided. And I'd have no idea if Canadian spec bikes vary any.

Re: RC51 front brake MC

I am checking Ron Ayers now, in the OEM parts section. I found the RC but see no sign of the microfiches for the 929 or 954.

here is the link:

Save yourself the trouble. I figured it out. All three list an alternative M/C assembly under the first one and in all three cases it's about $30 bucks cheaper. I suspect this is a different state of completion (ie. with or without internals, or with and without a lever.) The 929 and 954 alternative have the same part number. The RC alternative is different and more similar to the first M/C part number.

If you want to be helpful, maybe you could double check the caliper numbers. 929 and 954 are listed under CBR900.

superhawk22 is an unknown quantity at this point
I seem to remember this conversation before. If I remember correctly someone ordered a master cylinder rebuild for a 954 that had a 929 master and the seals fell in like baby Jessica....oh that was just wrong...sorry.

Sure...would you like me to check the oil? Maybe verify the tire pressure too
