Problem Years to avoid?
My 1999 SH engine seized somehow while I was sitting at a light. My bike had only 13,000 miles and had the oil and filter changed every 2K with Golden Spectro 4. I did not run out of oil or water. I want another one but they all seem to have about 15K miles on them and I can't afford for this to happen again. I sold the bike after the shop told me they did not think it was worth fixing for $1600.00. Thanks for any input.

WOW That's the first I've ever heard about anything like that happening. Sorry to hear that man. There are many SH's on here that have over 30,000 on them, possibly a fluke or the cct's might have gone on you. Did you hear any strange noises first or just suddenly sieze up? If you want to start from square one you can always find leftovers at a dealership for a good deal as well.
again sorry for your lose.

Seems to be a glut of those 03's on the market. After wadding my trusty 01 at Laguna this month I found brand new 03 for 7 k. I havn't heard of any of any particular mechanical weakness in any year. I definitelly have a weakness for them though. I had my choice of rides to replce the VTR with but Superhawks do everything I need a bike for. They only go 150mph, but torque on demand is fun.
