I really like my dunlop 208zr's I've never had grip problems with them, except when there cold. I have heard great things about the pilot power's. I think it's a toss up unless your doing track day's. They all have plenty of grip for the power the hawk puts out. My 2 cents

no track days whatsoever.... just twisty fun and suburban riding with ladies on board (well, one at a time) . i had dunlops on my cbr.. they werent bad at all. . . i just know some work with the vtr better than others. dont care too much about longevity... just a good stick in the cold

marmaladedad is on a distinguished road
I've had both Metzeler M1 and Pirelli Diablo Corsa on the VTR. I enjoyed the M1 immensely for street-riding, but they were a bit slippery on the track. The Corsas took some getting used to, but they grip and grip and grip. I thoroughly enjoyed them, and they look no worse for the wear than they did when new. The M1s took a beating after one track event, and I wasn't sure they'd make it through another.

If you're sticking to the street, the M1s should suffice.
