Newbie WTB Rumble Concept undertail

Hello everyone!

New user and new Firestorm owner, first post. I just picked up a red 97 with 58k km on the odo, Yoshi slipons, steering damper, heated grips, integrated LED rear light (but OEM indicators are still on the bike) and a screen. There also seems to be some kind of hard luggage setup (fasteners) but I don't know what kind of bags fit there.

The VTR is going to be my daily rider. I don't plan on going crazy with mods and such, but some essentials are in my plans, hence this post:

I want to clean up the rear end. I stumbled over some pics of the "Rumble Concept undertail", which I like. However, I can't seem to find any for sale (by someone that will ship to Norway). Anyone here know where I could find one? Are they any good?

Also plan on getting some flushmount indicators (front). As I understand it, whatever fits the RC51 also fits the SH/FB...? And, since I've been lurking on this forum for more than 90 seconds, I am of course seriously considering getting some APEs.

That's about it. Any help on sourcing a Rumble Concept undertail would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Oh, almost forgot. Pics or it didn't happen, right?

Rumble seat? like on the 30's cars where the seat flipped up out of the trunk?

I spy a pressure washer! Makes things loads easier when cleaning, but if it does steam, be careful on the chain because that'll fry the o/x-ring chain. Just as a reminder make sure to lube it up too if it get's wet!

If you're going to be up in the mountains as a commuter I'd also recommend doing a HID retrofit just because it really does help a lot. Just my .02

And if you want to clean it up, I think someone on the forum posted their version of a cleaner undertail using stock parts, moving the stock seat lock and then moving the plates up. But it looks like you're in Europe somewhere so I don't know how much that's gonna help with your big a$$ plates.

Very clean example of a VTR though. PO must have really taken care of her.

I would also like to get my hands on a rumble concept undertail. And I also wants to find a seller thats willing to ship overseas. They are by far the best looking undertail I've seen. But that's only my rumble opinion (boo, bad joke I know )

Ha de gott i Norge!

The rumble is nice looking, but it's not too good on the lighting really... The rear/brake light is weak and it's hard to tell if you are braking or not... And the signals are fairly easy to miss... All in all, not a good combination, since you might end up getting mowed down by a cager at an intersection...

Also, for Sweden, the signals aren't legal since they are too close together, so you'll need to supplement them with others, negating the clean look altogether... Dunno about the rules in Norway, so cannot comment on legality there...

What do you recommend then? Besides the mod you've done on your bike. It lights up good but I'm thinkin' if you want to clean up the tail. And don't want the original light. I was tryin to find something like the rc51 tail for the storm ( yea, firestorm is what it's called over the world except for the US that has to be different LOL). However, I can't find anything. Then I stumbled over Rumble Concept and now you say it's no good!!! What shall I/we do then?????

The haknslash mod, which is what I have done to my tail light is a good option in terms of visibility and a clean look... But it keeps the stock light that you wanted to avoid... One option there is to get a smoke glass for the stock light... Clear wouldn't look very nice, but smoke works...

Other options is to fit the tail light from various CBR's... Most of those requires fiberglass work, some more than others... A better option is to swap the entire *** end for something else... GSXR, CBR and SP/RC, as well as Yamaha tail-ends have been tried and can be found info on... Most of those is complete swaps, including the seat, and some with re-worked exhausts to match...

Since you looked at the SP rear, why not just fit that?

If you look at my mods, you will find that I have both the LED signals that came with my undertail, and others... That's since I found they wheren't enough... And those are better than the rumble one's...

I just put on an integrated tail light, removed my blinkers and license plate light, drilled new holes to move the plate up, and trimmed the extra plastic. I'm not sure how you could change yours with your big plates thought. I was looking at undertails, but then I would have to move my plate and there aren't many options on where to put it.

Before I picked up the Mototek undertail, I trimmed the fender, moved the plate up and used the lock as one of the plate bolts. But judging by the size of your rear plate, I don't think it would work, that thing is HUGE.

emo: one of those are for a sp/ rc51 and the other looks kinda weird I think. Like some sort of robot in a 70's b-movie
Don't really like R1 or gixxer tails on a VTR. Maybe a MV Augusta F4 tail but on the other hand...nah.
Might aswell do something myself. Just slab on with some fiberglass and some led's. Ya'know, be creative and come up with something no one else has.

Vtrumble how did you use your lock as a plate mount? That's the only thing that kept me from mounting the plate higher, and seeing yours I want to do it now

It was pretty easy, the lock is in the stock location, I just had line up the plate, then mark and drill the hole. I don't remember the size though. The right side plate hole is in its original location. The lock is held in with a clip, real easy to pop out. It is very straight (vertical) so I put a slight bend in the plate just above the numbers. If you look close you can see the divider in the tail light from the integrator.

taskmasta: that is one clean tail, what is it? It's not rumble, or? I think, that, with some small, tiny indicators would be perfect. Clean enough for me yet legal in Sweden. And as far as plates go, we do have mini plates over here aswell. Well, they're not legal but the cops usually dont bother.

It is Rumble. I bought it from them years ago. I don't think they produce it anymore.

Actually, both are for the VTR, not the SP/RC... I have the second one myself... Again, not legal signals for Sweden, but with others added it still looks clean...

So it IS for firestorm/superhawk? The 1:st one that is. In the ad it says: fits VTR 1000 SP 98-03
Eh, I dont get it. SP for superhawk, or? Should be SH for superhawk, wouldn't it?

Nu kommer Tweety tycka jag att är dum i kolan

Yes, it is... And nope, you're not stupid... But the average eBay seller is incapable of separating the VTR-F and the SP/RC since it's factory designation and/or name includes VTR in some countries... Ie they are stupid... It's a well known fact that to find parts on eBay for the VTR or the SP/RC you have to search for both and sift through the results...
