Kinda interesting but I believe I purchased (this July) the last brand new Superhawk on the planet. This bike had been sitting in Sun Honda (Thornton Colorado), new, since 2002! I traded in my old Yamaha cruiser for it, straight up. The bike had zero miles on it so after the 500 mile break in I rode it out to Las Vegas from Denver and then back! Had a blast! I had forgotten how much fun sport bikes are.

Thanks for the welcome. Yep, all fluids were changed along with the tires. Bike runs great. Kept it between 90 and 100 mph to Vegas and back. Fuel tank would drain right at 106 miles. Had two liter Gatorade bottles with fuel in them which got me from Green River, Utah to Salina, Utah. Wish the bike had a longer range, oh well. Oh because this bike was considered brand new when I got it even tho its a 2002, it came with a three year warranty! Good fun!

Yea, I swapped key for key for the Superhawk with my 2003 Yamaha roadster with 17000 miles and road wear and tear on it. I could barely keep from giggling as we each handed over titles. Not sure what mods I want to do yet. I have heard about the cam chain tensioner springs breaking causing major engine damage but I figure I've got awhile yet before I have to worry about that. I'll tell yea, this bike is way more fun in the canyons than any ol cruiser but I guess all of you guys and gals know that already.

my very first thing would be the cct's than the rectifier.
either order new set of cct's from honda or buy the manual cct's.
they have gone out on bikes as low as couple of thousand miles.yours are never used and ten years old.
once those 2 things are done, than theres other things you can do for cheap and fairly easy.
otherwise, enjoy her for a bit and get her broke in some.

WOW , what a find ,WOW, what a steal.. Dealership should have asked you to find two more Yamahers - to make it an even trade..
Now if your S-hawk is the "Perfect color" Lovely, super fast italian red.. Then (well) at least more than half the group.. Will ne super proud of you..

My #1 complaint about the Hawk.
Welcome to the forum Irish. My oem r/r lasted 12 years and wasn't toast when I upgraded (i'm @ about 25-30K miles), so no hurry on either of the 2 major issues. I'm jealous! Wish I could find a new one! Although with all I've done I would have to start swapping parts.
Post some pics for us!

Ok guys, here are two pics. I suck at computer stuff so I hope they go thru and don't mess this site up. The only mods that I have on the bike now are numerous bug splatters....LOL!!!!!

On a more serious note. Reguarding your CCT's: My 04' ate my intake and exhaust valves at only 4200 miles do to one failing. While you have some time, With this winter comming up, that would be a good time to do it. Mean while, enjoy that awesome deal you got there. Welcome!

Congrats on your good fortune, & welcome aboard. At least you'll have 3yrs. grace if your CCT's do fail, but don't think i'd wait that long. It's sort of a gamble. Have fun with the new ride & keep the rubber side down.

you neglected to mention that your dad owns the dealership, is legally blind and probably suffering from early onset.

Spoiled brat! You ought to be ashamed of yourself.
