New guy Broke Bike
I am a new guy,,new to the VTR , Pretty new to street riding...with that said I frigging love my VTR..anyway it took a dump on me...lost all power while riding,..got crank no start condition..appeared to have no spark...
Towed to shop...sucks.....they replaced the R/R and battery...bike starts, and will run till warm...operating temp,,then shuts down..again the crank no start until. it cools down...
Need advise,...thanks. If anybody knows a good VTR mechanic in Los Angeles please let me know

Dump as in his bike stalled and followed with a crank no start condition, not a wreck.
Things to check.
1) coils, make sure there is power and ground coming to them, and that they are sending voltage to the plugs. Coils have a tendancy to show their weak points once hot.
2) Also there is an ignition mod that could be the culprate, there is no way to test this part so you will have to test everything else first then, on that note I dont think this part fails very regularly.
3) possible vabor lock or a vacuum leak. Check all hoses and lines near the motor for excessive heat or holes.
4) Fuel diaphragm, under the tank check for leaks or the smell of fuel, sometimes these fail and need to be rebuilt.
I just went through a similar situation. Bike died while I was cruising on the Highway, starter turned over but would not start. Here's the thread:

Long story short it was the Ignition Converter Module.
